starting problems in the cold

ive never had any problems with my w plate mk5 but the freezing weather is here (snow) & in the mornings my van just turns over til the battery goes flat, it just turns over for a fair while, its got heater not glow plugs, i have to use my jump pack, why is it doing it, anyone have any ideas on what it could be,
