Rattling noise when accelerating?

Postby TanyaTee » Sun Dec 05, 2010 11:21 am

Hi There,
I have recently bought a ford transit 80 swb 1995 van. This is the first time i've had a van. It has been running fine until yesterday when it started to rattle. The noise of the engine also increaced quite significantly. The noise/rattling seems to only occour when accelerating and it doesnt seem to loose any power. I've had a listen under the van and it seems to be coming from the front end. I'm not very expirianced with cars, but it seems to me like it's the exhaust?!
Any help/advice would be greatly appriciated.

There's a bracket that comes off the gearbox to hold the downpipe steady, on mine someone neglected to fit the clamp back on it, causing it to rattle on the bracket, but doubt this is it!
