Finding Radio Code

Postby ericspets » Mon Dec 13, 2010 10:02 pm

Loads of members are asking for radio codes and you lot are brilliant at responding to their requests, but my question is slightly different.

I seem to remember, sometime ago, reading about how you can find the code to your Ford radio by pressing certain buttons and counting the number of times something flash's.
As i have a Focus and a Tranny i would find it handy to find the codes before i have to disconnect the battery for any reason.

I've seached the 'tinternet and can't find anything, neither can i find aything in the handbooks.

Did i dream this or can you really do it.

I've never heard of it, but someone else on here might, however if all you want is the codes, just slide out the stereos without unplugging them, post the serial numbers (starting "M") on here, and well give you the codes so as youv'e got them ready. The decoding software is readily available on the internet anyway, but bear in mind that newer cars / vans that have a serial starting "V" can't be decoded using normal software, and you would have to go to a dealer. (some internet sites do say that they offer a decoding service for these, but it may take a few hours, i've not tried any of these so don't know how true it is, although its perfectly feasable, however as of yet despite what some people are offering for sale, as far as I know, no readily available decoder software exisits for these stereos as of yet, due to the complexity of the alogarythms being used)

Yes it was possible on the early ford radios if the radio was unlocked and you pressed and held buttons 1 & 3 the code would be displayed all the new stuff is on a code callculator including the new models which have a "v" instead of the "m"

Thought as much with regards the newer radios, and just realised I put "K" instead of "V" for the newest ones in my original post, I meant "V" so sorry if I caused any confusion, its been a bad week
