Hi i have an 2008 transit when i switch off i get a grating type noise a bit like a pump grinding 5 times
Ford tell me it's the egr valve and that the noise is normal . I've done 32,000 and never had the noise before
anybody else had the same problem?

From what I've read on the forum its the egr's self clean cycle. My 07 Focus does it as well.

It will be the EGR valve, it could be excessive the noise but only your dealer can comment if its normal or excessive.
