A new floor for my Mk7

Postby linus » Mon Apr 13, 2009 9:02 pm

Finally i had the time and the right idea to make a decent floor in my Mk7, which i use as personal car, bike transporter and holiday mobile. Still to work out are the walls and the ceiling, but i've made a start and the floor is done. Here the pics:

Looks chaotic but is very effective to make a flat and solide surface (they are glued to the van).

This was meant to avoid funny crunchy/grinding wood noises

3 pieces of 15 mm quality ply (costs a fortune  ) glued to each other with "slot and key", screwed to the van, made straight/flat with filler on screws and joints.
Image

The finish was glued on, first one half ( once you've laid it it wont move anymore) then the other half.

Tie downs just where i need them

Sealed it all.

Next thing to do will be a nice ceiling.....
Cheers,
Linus
