Just the engine bay to clean so it looks like the outside ! Cant stand dirty engines , LOL , If the dry weather continues the plan is to get a load of waxoil into the right places to help preserve things. The van did take some effort to spruce up but as you can see Tim that effort was rewarding in its outcome.

See ya Soon Mate :)

only just seen this .
What a good writeup I!.......... but such a terrible wasted opportunity to have made it an excellent one.

Why photograph the entire project with a Mickey Mouse phone camera so that every single shot is completely out of focus ?

Ebay is awash with £5.0 digital cameras that have a macro close up facility ! :? What a waste of a good opportunity, this could easily have become the standard reference for this work.

I'm sorry if that seems unduly harsh but for goodness sake someone needed to say it .

BRILLIANT - loved reading all this wish I has seen it sooner, I did a search aswell for this type of project...

I have learned alot myself doing the front wings, sills, doorsteps, front slam panel and front cross members.

I have still got lots to do before it even comes close to this one though...

At the start I was in two minds whether or not to give up get rid of the ole girl and get something else. But engine is sound it had less than 70,000 miles on it.

I also did the cam belt a little while ago that was such a doddle, the easiest cam belt I have ever done.

All in all I enjoyed and learned doing it all.

If only it was as good as this one lol...

Awesome job looks and IS really WELL DONE....

If you haven't done the Waxolyling yet, you might want to look at this stuff. http://www.rejel.com/rejel-store/list/1 ... vel/a.aspx

Dinitrol always used to come out better than Waxoyl in the old Practical Classics tests in the days when I still used to get that mag. Last time I bought some it was just 3125 but it now seems to have been split into two grades, 3125HS (normal) and 3125ML as a pre-treatment before the 3125HS for more rusty sections. There's also the 1000 extra penetrating version for seams and door bottoms and the like.

Assumption or fact ? where does it say that a mickey mouse phone camera was used ? being a keen photographer myself I will point out that the reason a small number of pictures are out of focus is not due to the hardware used but that the camera was moved slighty before the shutter had closed = blur

On a positive side there are more than enough relavent pictures which show the detail of Tims work, Tim is a brillant fabricator and probably by his own admission not a contender for David Bailey and his standard of work speaks for itself, from the pictures that are in evidence along with some of mine which are Hi Res and in Focus anyone can see how this task was accomplished. To be churlish with such a statement is I think negative given the workflow and outcome of this project.

I have lost count of various Transit owners who have seen my van since Tim worked his magic who have had nothing but praise for the bodywork restoration and for anyone who wishes to have such work carried out Tim is the man for the job, although they may wish to bring a couple of lenses, and a 30 megapixel body along with them
