Welding & Underseal

Postby transit mark » Sat Sep 21, 2013 7:54 pm

Been talking about tidying up the underneath of the van and spoke to my friend and he said i could use the ramp. First thing was to get the van on the ramp.

The three things that needed sorting out.

Drivers sill

Chassis both sides were the bump stops were. Van looks to have been overloaded in the past.

Plan was to cut out the rot and replace, what was left of the 2 pieces of chassis.

Then i thought i would clean the underneath up, From this

Did find a small patch on the rear cross member when i was cleaning up which will be getting sorted next Friday, so will be cleaning that up along with the inner arches and under sealing those at the same time.

Was a long and messy day.

What did you use for the underseal mate and how much did you go through? Guessing a spray gun was used? Clean up meaning a good jet wash? Presumably you went over with wire brush attatchment throughout prior to welding?
