I needed a new pin to replace the one that I had to hack out due to being rusted in solid. This is a SS bar, not strictly the correct material for this job but at least it won't rust. I milled an oil groove in it for good measure.
I had the floor sections from the scrapped tipper bed, They were badly warped so I wasn't sure they would slot back together as they a a sort of tongue and groove? Using some straps to add clamping force couple with lots and lots of tapping, banging and down right hammering they slowly but surely started behaving. Fixed down using these, though I did pilot drill each one.
They fix down surprisingly flat considering how bad they are to begin with. They are also very strong.
Not so yay the hydraulic motor packed in on the first real job, it sorta spluttered and coughed it's way to a slow death. Fortunately with the bed raised allowing me to get to the motor. It was decided to strip it down and have a look inside.
The commutator looks well beyond saving as it's a real mess. How the motor ran at all is a mystery?
With nothing to loose I stuck it on the lathe and began machining the damage away ..
Almost done, just some slight pitting to go
All done and put back together, happy to report the motor now runs like new and wizzes the bed up with some speed
