Postby stevo » Tue Apr 28, 2015 2:51 pm

Owned this since august 2014. Bought with 103 thousand miles on the clock with service history up to 90k.
Its now got 106k on it and have done a few bits and pieces to it.

Looks good.

Cheers mate.
Still in the process of colour coding the bumpers, trying to attack any rust i come across, for an 03 plate its fairly rust free and i intend on keeping that way.

Image

My biggest challenge is getting this panel straight, got quite a bad crease in it and im trying my best to fill it and getting it to look good

Surprised at how little rust there is around the arches, sills and wings. Ive sanded the side door sill and rust proofed it. Looking at removing the wings and treating the inner wing before it starts to rust too.

I still can't belive the condition compared to mine  I have one of the chassis end plates if your are showing signs of rust and all you need now is mk7 rear lights

Was thinking about mk7 rear lights but quite like the mk6 ones, adds some contrasting colour to the van.
I was amazed at the condition of it when i first viewed it, even more so once i started working on it. Even a few bits of bare metal havent gone rusty.
The only real spot that was bad was the rear corner of the sliding door sill, had a hole in it that ive had to fill. Not bad for 12 years old lol

Here's not a great pic but you see how the mk7 lights go better on a white van

Finally finished colour coding my bumpers. Added new number plates too.

Still got the one side to tidy up where ive had to fill it but luckily ive found a set of body moldings (all except the sliding door one  ) which will save me a lot of work shaping the recess they sit in

A few clearer pictures

This is my biggest job I have left

Middle section left to paint black

This side looks better though. Have painted rear wheels and caps and tidied the sill up.

Fitted body mouldings on one side

Image

Rear center bumper painted and windows tinted

Image

Just got a bit more filling and this can be finished. Most of the major work is done, just a bit of paintwork to touch up in places
