At the rear of the panel where it meets the rear pillar , will that be welded up the seam , or spot welded then filled ?

If you fit the inner panel first then you cant get to the flange (below the swage at floor level) so you just weld it from the outside (its hidden behind bumper end cap anyway so just dress any welds and apply sealer) the top half can be spot/plug welded from inside the van

The front end is a bit more fiddly (if you want to keep the seam (below floor level) looking original, I've never tried it but it "might" be easier to test fit everthing then actually weld the outer panel in first which would give you access to the full length of the flange inside, then fit the inner arch and weld it in (much easier on a van with twin side doors)

All the paint is from the same tin, just not quite the same colour as Ford's did it
But, I even have a 'colour coded' exhaust outlet, so I now have a 'stealth' exhaust

But I did get time to install this;


Not sure how much difference it made, but a respectable 18.53 @72mph was achieved on my third run

Not too sad for a 2300kg minibus

The diff is a spare 4.6 I had, just stuffed an LSD in it a bit quick in time for North Weald

The 4.1 needed a pinion seal, just didn't have the time to do it before the weekend, another job for 'later'
The 4.6 diff I ran with required the selection of fourth gear a few yards before the end of the 1/4 mile, so perhaps the 4.1 would suit it better when doing quarter miles, one less gear change

One thing for certain, the 4.6 is a lot 'harder work' on the road, even with the large wheel/tire combination.

You told me you hadn't put the LSD in?

My only real difference from last year was an LSD and a lightened flywheel (but slighly more weight) which knocked 0.3 off. It probably had a similar effect for you?

I had to make sure it worked before 'owning up', you know what some of these 'dodgy forum sellers' are like

The purpose of the exercise was the test the LDA/performance pump before 'going to press', I think we are generally happy with it as a direct replacement for the EPIC in a 'road going' Transit. Used in conjunction with a set of 'yellow spots' it will be better than 'acceptable' even with a stock turbo.
Andy thinks it is still a bit 'advanced', I am sure he is right, but I sort of like the noise and given the level of sound insulation in the Tourneo GLX it's not really a problem with the windows closed

I am sure that there is a lot more to be had from these pumps in terms of increased fueling but as a 'cost effective' replacement for a failed EPIC I do believe it is 'marketable'. The ability of the LDA to reduce fueling 'off boost' while still providing the increased fueling when needed makes these a far better alternative to bolting on a stock N/A pump.
