I am situated I Denmark and bought a new van some weeks ago.
It’s a MK7 280 SWB 100ps from January 2012 ( build date according to Ford etis, November 2011 ), with only 40K km on the clock, and a full service history.
It has been waxoiled before it hit the road and therefore looks nearly as new underneath!
Other 2012 models I looked at, had already a great deal of surface rust, in an extend, so they looked worse than my daughters 12 year old Fiat Punto.
Therefore I soon realized it was mandatory for the one I should buy, that it has been waxoiled from new.
Last service were in January with 36K on the clock, but because I were unsure about the oil used, I have changed it to Castrol Magnatech 5W-30 A5 fulfilling Ford WSS-M2C913-C. I also put in a new oil filter.
Because it is now over 4 years since it was waxoiled, I also sprayed it with 10L of rustproofing oil.
My plan in the future is to do a little on the outside on the cosmetic side and make a full lining, with soundproofing, in the cargo area. Maybe I will also remove the bulkhead!
My plan is also to fit inner fenders / splash guards or what you call them. I have found some with a firm called Lokari in Germany , they got them for 150EUR, front or back set. The price here in Denmark is twice of that!!!!
As you can see, I have already fitted a set of alloy wheels.
It’s a set of Calibre Odyssey 7.5 x18 with 235/50 18 Falken ZE914 Tyres. The wheels is loadrated to 1250KG each and the tyres is 101W giving a loadrating of 825Kg each.
The tyres is then exactly within the requirements for my van, with an axle load of 1650KG.
It all came in £847 + Vat, with nuts included. Bought in UK.
As a remark, the van runs great on those wheels.
They are not going to stay on in the winter though, with all the salt on the roads here in Denmark!
That’s all for now. Be back when there is more progress.
Regards.
Brian
