I collected my front 4 bar brackets this morning and i thought I would have a quick mock up to give me a boost. Nothing is set properly, nothing is square and the rear brackets need to be welded to the axle tube but it gives the idea of where the truck is heading.ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Bit more progress all be it it doesn't look like much. The front mounting plates are set. The chassis rails are now drilled for the new crush tubes. Everything is set and square, the crush tubes need welding in place and then its onto the axle brackets.ImageImageImageImageImage

Well thats 1 set of crush tubes now welded in and 1 front 4 link mount bolted up. 2 more left to do on the other side then move on to the axle brackets and 4 link bars. Dont worry bolts are only for mock up, correct ones will be used on the final assembly.ImageImageImageImage

Good progress this evening,

the other front bracket is now on and the last 2 crush tubes are welded.

The axle has been sanded and 2 of the axle brackets have been split in half and now tacked back together on 1 side of the axle.

The length of the 4 link bars has been decided and the bars have been cut. Crossed drilled and chamfered and the threaded plugs have been pressed in.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

It doesn't look like much has been achieved this evening but both sets of axle brackets where tacked onto the axle after the pinion angle was set. Then 1 side of the axle had the brackets welded all the way around both on the inside and outside, so 4 passes of welding. ImageImageImageImageImage

Well this evening the other side of the axle brackets have been welded and all 4 of the 4 link tubes have been fully welded. Hot root weld followed by a capping weld and rosette welded the 2 holes.ImageImageImageImage

Well managed to get a few hours in the workshop today, the four 4 link bars have had there welds sanded back and been gone over with a flap wheel. Also all of the threads have been cleaned out 3/4 UNF. ImageImageImageImageImageImage

I went to the local nuts and bolts shop this morning and picked up what i hope will be the last few bolts. Got a 46mm hole saw why i was there.
So now there us a 46mm hole through both of the chassis rails for these tubes i turned down. They will be welded both sides of the rails.

This is to allow a socket to fit the top front 4 link nut. Was gonna tap the spacer but then this would leave no locking device so done this to allow a nyloc nut to be used.ImageImageImage

Great progress made this evening,
the front tubes are both welded and sanded down.
The axle has been put back on with the 4 link bars.
The diff angle has been set to 3°.
The first track locator bracket is fully welded and sanded down. Now in place.
The second track locator bracket is welded just needs to be sanded down and fitted. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

More progress this evening, the second track locator bracket is sanded and put in place.
Both top air bag mounts have been made and tacked in place.

Think the bottom air bag mount needs some more work.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Well managed to turn this 5mm steel plate into the start of the lower airbag mounts. Not as good as laser cut ones on only a hand full of 1mm cutting discs and a few flap discs and they look and seem to fit ok. Next is to sort out the gussets ect to mount them to the axle once the track locator is finished of and in place.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Well after a long drive last night i ended up at Banded Steel Wheels in Tiverton, Damian set about banding my rear wheels.

Originally 20 × 8J now 20 × 12J cant wait to get home and try them on.

Cant recommend Damian enough, nice bloke and very clever ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
