Nice how low is the roof chop gonna be 6” are you putting a low roof on or high top/pop top, you know with the donor van you could make a funny van where you cut the middle out.

Quick question are the outer cills spot welded to the inner cill

I'm stitching the low roof on from the tourneo it'll be factory. :P

I might cut the middle out and fit a pop top. But that's a later project. I've still got loads to do, insulation, tourneo interior, stretch carpet etc, there's a leak from the gearbox to engine seal. I'm interested in fitting a mustang automatic gearbox if possible. Remap possibly. I did have the pcm in it from snowflake but I had to install the original map. I could put a 3.2 pot in it if I wanted. Also I'm interested in upgrading the speedo and adding sync 3. If possible.

It's a long term project and I can get it on the road first.

Panels are all spot welded, they sandwich together. Did you post a picture of your panels anywhere? There's genuine fit ones or repair panels which are different. They're doesn't appear to be factory inner sills available for the non sliding door side :x

You should be able to look back at this thread for when I did the front on mine. Have you got any pictures of your holes that need repairing?

See the brown bits well under the door rubber isn’t brown it’s fresh air,
IMG_1703.jpeg

The inner cill where the mud flaps attach was plated t’other year for the mot so I’m thinking cut the cill off below the step and see how bad the inner cill is and either change both and the arch or just the step cill for now, the arch behind the plastic is non existent either, bloody ford

I suggest for now , remove the plastic step trim(2x10mm nuts underneath)and remove the weather strip.

See what the inner cill and step box and outer sill are like.

The bits you have bought there's 2 good bits but the middle sill panel is just a repair panel that basically sits on top and welds over it but it misses the ends, i did it on asbo as a bodge but it isn't suitable if you plan a proper repair.

If you strip it down and find the steep void it's good and just the outer sill is a bit crap you might think cut the bad out and the previous plate and so a new plate over. Otherwise it's the full job really. But you need to grind back to good metal to get a full decision. My tip is where the mudflap bolts to is the inner sill and if you can basically pull it off and make a hole then that needs doing.

It all came as a package so thought why not   my plan is to replace the bit below the door then eventually to the arch, the inner where the flaps go left the building last year so I just bodged a plate over it

How that low roof coming along, you could fit a nice sunroof over the cab

Day off today as I did a triathlon, Friday I did a tansit front balljoint and an Astra j rear door that wouldn't unlock.

The donor roof panel is all prepped up so I just need a few hours to drill the bits on the van to get that ready for the donor. The van has AC so I'm not sure about fitting the sunroof, I'm in 2 minds about doing a pop top. I plan on roof rails and a nice rear spoiler. Factory look though,I'm not into bonnet bras and roof visors etc.

It is now placed and welded and ground and rust treated so next is to seam seal it all then the metalwork is complete. I then need to spray the van race red and then reassemble it all.

Zinc spray.

Don't really enjoy welding spot welds, I would like a spot welder. I have that 1 there from Al but it doesn't have a timer

Sadly the timer was nicked in one of my many break-ins at my old place :(
