Transit badge came off!!

Postby griffj » Mon Feb 04, 2008 5:58 pm

while jet washing my Mk6 today the rear "Transit" badge decided to part company with the rear door!!
i had been thinking about changing it anyway so heres what i did,
the badge left a lot of adhesive behind, thats expected but what i didnt expect was the hole!!

after much t-cut, white spirit and elbow grease,

no idea whatsoever!!
was surprised to say the least, i know there are holes behind the ford badge to speed up fitting at the factory, but behind the transit badge, not a clue why.

aye, your not kidding, its a Bosch power wash i got myself a few years ago, and i can connect it to the hot tap in the garge.
its got me in trouble once before, at xmas i was blasting the muck and grime of my A4 and it managed to take all the laquer off the bonnet!! cost me £150 to get it repainted...LOL

almost no comments on the badges then?
guess nobody like?

Ive found what the hole is for...

...to remove the badges!
Friend of mine is a sprayer and used to work for fords, when they change from studs and clips to foam tape, they used spend time carefully removing badges to stop damage and the dam tape comes off in bits, all extra preperation before painting. It all takes extra time if you mark the panels and time is loads of money.
