how much did it cost you

mind you im sure it will soon pay for itself and keep us updated on your progress

Cheers, thank you. Paid a grand for it, which was possibly a little too much but was desperate and it was local and available.
It has paid for itself already as i am using it between working on it.
So far a new 5 ton winch fitted with a home made security box over it to stop the thieves knicking it ( also added 2 cuttoff, one hidden and another under the bonnet with the bonnet padlocked down too. A £90 wheel clamp for added security a to put em off knicking it, plus invested in a locked yard too so hopefully this bugger wont get knicked.
Have now rollered the cab in the same blue and it looks reasonable, great and shiny from a distance but a few bubbles and pointers telling me to sand down better next time. Still, when the sign writing is on it, it will look 99%. Paint was just £14 quid and the gloss roller was a quid from poundland.
Had a new tyre as when i went to inflate one the valve shot out accross the petrol station narrowly missing a local moggie.
Replaced back window with second hand glass for a tenner, expected a battle with it but it fell in without string and just a bit of fairy liquid. Although when it rained the water poured in through the top of the windscreen so i am thinking a new windscreen rubber needed too. Now i bet that dont fall in to place
Took the prop in to a prop shaft place local to get it balanced, this was supposed to be £30, however, when i got there he tells me the UJ on the box end is US and the uj on the diff end is US as well as the centre prop bearing too. He also said he did not like working on a 2 piece prop as they are too long and over ten years ago they stopped doing them as they had one snap and make a right mess. Anyway, i convinced him my long 2 piece was fine so he set about working on it but could not get a replacement for the box end as no one has them anymore. He dabbed some weld on the 2 ends that are not supposed to move and that tighened it up making it good to go. Then when he put it on the machine to balance it the dam thing nearly ended up the other end of the factory as the prop was bent
Anyway, he straightened it and balanced it, i refitted it and now it is like a new truck. No vibes at all. Apart from that is my Sony flip stereo i got free from a car i picked up.
Chassis still cracked but reckon the beaver is holding it all in place so OK till weekend when my m8 going to re weld it where he has welded it about 5 times before.
Managed to cobble a number plate light on top of the bed at the back middle, however, not sure it will survive that long so need ideas on how to illuminate a number plate.
Put cooking foil over the silver bits in the recovery light and rewired it. Reason it was not working was due to the cable being wrapped around the steering column and this pulling it out of its battery connection. Whilst cleaning the lenses in the recovery light i realised never to use white spirits on one as it takes the amber colour away
Other things on the agenda are the exhaust which has more holes than a sieve, although to be fair they all been dabbed with weld. It needs the steering sorting out as it is completely buggered and floats all over the shop. There is loads more that dont come to my stella mind
Mind you, talking about it earning its money and paying for itself ...
It has carried 4 cars in today and is booked for 5 more tommorrow too so it deserves a treat, LOL, perhaps i buy it some alloy wheels.
I shall get some more pics and continue the saga as the days pass ...
