My new mk5 project to fix up

Bought this a couple of weeks ago off a bloke on here for £250. Its a 1999 Sreg 2.5 diesel 80 SWB still got a few months tax & MOT. I only bought it as a cheap project as i have the firms 10plate Volkswagen transporter for my works van which drives really nice but like my old transits. All it will be used for is tip runs and a spare van.
Gave it a good clean today to see what ive got to do.

Not the best smiley out there but its solid its had new rear arches at some point and after scraping back some surface rust on the front arches theres shiny new metal underneath so they have been patched up to.
Also have a receipt for £1000 for a new fuel pump it that was fitted a couple of years ago and just had a new battery and starter motor.

The side door has been welded shut by the last owner as lock is broke but its abit of security for my keeping my spare tools in.

Its had a small patch of welding done on the back for last MOT.

JOBS TO DO:
Fit new rear leaf spring as snapped
Fit new heater resistor when it turns up.
Treat spots of rust fill and paint.
Underseal underneath
Sand down sills, Kill rust, fill and paint
Spray wheels silver
Spray rear bumper black.

Thinking of getting some big motorcross stickers to stick on it to stop it looking like an old builders van.






I need an aerial if anybody has one.

Yeah for the money it drives like any other smiley ive had. Cheers mate ebay used to sell brand new aerials but there getting rare to find went down the scrappy and they were snapped on every van

I went to halfrauds and got a universal replacement for about £10 last year.

might be an idea to get a universal one from ebay?

i picked up a shark fin aerial on ebay, i think it was about £7 delivered and actually gives a pretty good reception

What type of universal one would i need and how would i get it to fit do i need to take the old base off? Also did you just stick the shark fin one to the roof?

Been busy today and yesterday getting van patched up for next MOT.
Undersealed sills and underneath to hopefully keep rust away abit longer.
Treated all rust spots and filled. Ive primed and sprayed the patches and arches in diamond white for now need to go over them again in frozen white as been resprayed at some point.
Sprayed wheels and fitted a new rear numberplate.

That van looks really good

its easy to fit, you will need to remove the side trim next to the windscreen to aid in routing the calbe and remove a couple of clips that hold the roof liner in.
