well done neil ..thats what I call bluddy heroic mate ! Especially as you had to teach yourself to weld as well.

Its lucky Tranny panels are relatively cheap. I know the cost starts mounting but the amount of time they save in fabricating panels out of little bits of metal sheet they are worth every penny I reckon

How about an update on progress?

the joys of owning a transit especially a mk5
the hole you find always turns out to be a bloody great one once you start on it
your doing a exelent job there
best way cutting all the crap out and putting fresh steel in
if its got tits or wheels its always gonna end in trouble !!!
anyone can restore a van but it takes a real man to chop it up !!!

Thanks for the comments :) I have been updating my other thread
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=92685
I have fitted both windows and patched up the sliding door, fitted the spring hangers, 4 patches welded on the chassis, fitted a new rear arch, sorted some rust around the van and welded one side of the floor back in, and started putting the ply in the van as its been to windy to do anymore welding.
Still got to weld the inner cill under the sliding door and replace the back corner panel started patching it but think a new panel will be best, Then turn the van around replace the battery tray and passenger inner wing and outer wing then MOT :!:
I will update with some pics soon
Many Thanks Neil

All welding done to the rear of the van and undersealed the rear what a job that is. After 2 months standing it started first time :D So turned the van around so I can weld the front arch. Started cleaning the engine bay and removing lots of bits to clean. Sorry about pic it was getting dark

Sorry already done it and did not take any pics. It was not that hard the worse bit was making the inner arch. Its my filling and sanding down which lets me down but may fill and sand again before painting

my filling and painting is cr*p too
Did you cut away all the existing arch panel under the door and up to the seam or did you just cut out the rot to the visible bit of the arch and weld the replacement panel over the top .?

took the door off then cut back to the just past the ridge it was hard to get the angle grinder in there with out cutting anything else. at the bottom i used the whole lot as my bottom step was gone as well. It was not that bad as i said i had to make the inner arch which was the pain. I did not put it over the top i butt joint it together. will get a pic up but hey mot today so may have more problems
Thanks Neil
