Please see my blood sweat and tears gone into my transit conversion. i have worked on this over the past 2 months as i have not had the van that long, Would be good to talk to other people who have done the same. It is nearly finished, just not too sure about the roof lining. I am now in the process of doing the back doors and will upload some pics when complete. A bit stuck on the gas and the roof. HELP!!!!!

Can't really see from pics but you need two roof vents to control condensation, i use two american rv solar powered ones which surface mount, they run all day every day. Four intake vents at floor level. pics here.

Then two 12v switched extractors above cooker. pics here.

thanks for the solar power tip... gas issues are ive heard that you have to have a solid copper pipe from the cooker to a tap before the rubber pipe to the gas bottle and have also heard that if you only carry a small gas bottle then this is not necessary. i have a small 2 ring burner in the van but dont intend cooking, this i only for tea and coffee etc as we have a largere stove which we cook on outside the van.
are there any laws on this and has there also got to be a hole in the floor???

Yeah, the flexi pipe/regulator is there to make gas change easy, then to solid pipework is best as flexi needs replacing now and then, if cooker is close to gas then flexi straight to it is an option but then you can't put anything else gas fuelled in the van., stopcocks are not mandatory, more for servicing individual appliances. Gas bottles needs to be fixed, enclosed and accessible and compartment has to have a gas drain hole of specific minimum size.

A base level vent intake for cooker is recommended.I have two burners/grill above an oven and a vent intake at the base.

Gas compartment being easily accessible from outside simply by opening a van door is way to go, i have two in the base of a wardrobe at the rear of the van and just open one rear door and then a door in wardrobe base and can do it all and gas change-over standing outside.

Get friendly with local caravan mech and buy stuff there and get advice and fit it and get drop test when done.

The regulations are on this site in the camper section.
