03 MWB Recovery Build

I picked up this mk6 transit locally when I was looking for a recovery bodied transit, so I said I'd build one myself. The van needs a bit of work, rear brakes need attention, track rod need replacing and cut out some rust on the cab and a bit on the chassis.



Started by removing the dropside body





Lots of cleaning to be done on the chassis and a respray.

Removed the rear light panel and towbar.

Found plenty of rust behind expanding foam and body filler!!







A bit behind the cab...



I reckon there is more filler here!

while your there, re enforce the chassis behind the cab

last one i saw they cut holes in the cab wall and put box section front to rear on top of the chassis in a mk5 style, then plated both sides of the rails

the box section believe was part of the bed subframe and went about 18" under the seats in the cab,

Ok I think I get ya.. There is more rust in the cab behind the seats. I'll get pic's tomorrow.
