i bought this van back in january......in six months i killed it, used it as a builders van and motorbike transport for shows and trackdays, didnt clean it through the winter, turned it from a very slightly tatty van into a rotbox then i ragged it one time too many and it ate an exhaust valve

i was looking at getting another van.......but i know i'll spend longer finding one than i will changing the engine, and its got 10 months tax and ticket, so if i can get on top of the rot by then i'll be more than happy. going to start a fund for a 160bhp 2.1 BVH with a fast cam from Jem Engines......

ive got two weeks to fix it before the next big job starts, got this far in two hours tonight, so i reckon i'll have time to spare, might even get some of that welding done.



thats pretty much all the ancilliaries out of the way, just got to disconnect the exhaust and plenum, and unbolt the gearbox and she'll be out.

That's tiny compared to the 2.5 diesel. You got space in there you could use for storing Eastern European workers.

Personally I would have just changed the head, but if you know the replacement is a good one why not go the whole hog

The Di is much heavier than the Cossie Tony knows as the front of his van is much higher now

all ive managed to do in the last couple of days is an hours work, tonight, got the inlet manifold of. theres so much room in there now that i can climb in and stand next to it turned the crank round till its open on 3, through the gap between the inlet valve and its seat, i can just see the mashed up head of the exhaust valve jammed in at 90 degrees to its seat.


looks like its going to be a bit of a pig taking it out, the exhaust downpipe has to come out as well as the manifold.

if you dont keep that engine in get it repair as there like rocking horse sh*t apperently. thats the same engine as i had in mine.

i binned my engine and there wasnt anything wrong with it and put the 2.5 di engine in which i regret extremely.
but that is only because i hate the noise of diesels.
the only real problem i had in doing the transplant was finding a prop that fits the diff as mine was auto i changed the flange on the diff in the end.if you do go diesel leave the diff on thats on it now.
mines the quickest non turbo transit round here it does tank along and i havent touched the pump

yeah, i had a lot of trouble finding one. the one thats in it is on a "202" block, but the one ive got going in is a "205". dipstick is in a slightly different place too. the guy swore it was out of a transit but it could be from a scorpio or a sierra

i thought scorpio and mondeos were all on dohc???
but im not to clued up on them as i never liked them lol
