I'd been chatting to another member about replacing my van or reshelling it in it's current form. Within that conversation I mentioned my hope for fitting one of those elusive 3.2 5pots into the 4x4 mk7 to make it a proper tool.
Needles to say, there it was, as if by magic, a 3.2 MK7 in "limited" spec LWB and at what I thought was a very reasonable price. BUT and there's always a "But" it was a medium roof, so not easy to stand up inside AND it's got the wrong axle ratio for mating with the front diff.
So armed with that info I called the seller the next day at lunch time and asked a few questions.
I hummed and haw'd all afternoon and at 6.30 I called the guy back and put my deposit down on it.
The kudos of owning a 3.2 was going to be mine

I got the train down at 6am on the Thursday morning from Stirling to Bristol.
A quick bit of paper work. Kick the tyres an check the levels. Then it was off on the long drive home.
The van performed brilliantly on the way home. and I had lots of fun putting the foot down and holding off challenges from boy racers and bmw's

The van was a builders van, so, needles to say we set about ripping up the floor, and washing out the sand and gravel from it's rear and there's not one panel that didn't have scratch marks so it'll be going for a full respray before it starts working.
