start of project ratvan

hi all, only been with you a couple of days and already managed to find a decent base for my project in the form of a 98 S reg tourneo glx td 8 seater .
BIG THANKS TO TONY "THE_BIG_FACT_HUNT"
been to look at it today , needs a fair bit of welding and a general tidy up but have seen a lot worse with bigger price tags.

plans for next weekend when i collect it are to start with the welding and getting the painwork cleaned up.
through the summer hols with a bit of luck will see it with a raised rear , mangles 15x7 8 spokes ,front roof bar with lights, A bar with spots , small rear roof spoiler , and thinking about side exit zorsts , not too sure on the zorsts yet as there are a lot of young kids play round here and dont want anyone burning themselves if they get too close.
still throwing a lot of ideas around , but that is what i have decided will happen for the start.

tring to find any aftermarket products for this is a complete nightmare so if anybody knows of any suppliers i would be more than greatful .

picked up the bus last night and decided to make a start today with a general clean up " 8 hours later still cleaning" decided to call it a day for today lol.
tomorrow will see the new ball joint , discs , brake cylinders and a few other bits done , then start with the welding a start of next week.
i will now try and get these pics uploaded.

i have finaly got off my backside and started again on the ratbus now the weather has cooled down lol.
now it has passed its mot and all seems ok with it i have started the spending lol
just got hold of 2 front leather cptns seats and the 3 seperate ones to go behind it , in near mint condition for £20 each out of a renault grand espace exec , which will be ftted this weekend.
im going to weld the runners from the seats to the ones from the tranny so i dont lose the hight of the seats as the ones on the cptns seats are very low.

the stuff on the drivers seat is just some dusty bits that wiped right off



should be fun getting these fitted and cant wait to drive again without sitting at a funny angle due to a knackered seat

I'm glad too now lol , I have just got hold of a Scooby intercooler for it, and it goes in next week to be measured up for full exhaust , watch this space lol ints no holds barred now

Just a though but when you do do the arches and all the bottom work why not have a two tone colour scheme with just the bottom half having a respray???The top half looks fine with a good mop up would be sound.

What style of Rat-look you going for I like the "Military" and "Rice Rats", but that "Nu-Rat" look with the rusty bonnet looks pants Watched the firm over the road from where I used to work, strip a VW camper to bear metal, spray with a mild acid, neutralise and paint with lacquerer

i have been getting ideas from all over these boards lol including yours alanN and mattblack's and also these 2 i saw



colour wise i have been thinking of satin black as it should be a bit easier to keep clean than matt black.
my heads in a mess lol because i want it old school with a bit of modern and rice in with it too but not looking chavy
it will all work out in the end 1 way or the other lol.
