rustoleum paint

for anybody thats thinking about using rustoleum ,im half way through spraying my camper with it and the stuff is brilliant ,takes a bit of patience but its worth it ,most people use a roller but i think its way better spraying it ,heres a few pics of mine so far

Looks brilliant, has it had any buffing.

not yet ,just wet sanded some rubbing compound and some turtle wax , was all elbow grease didnt have a buffer till today ,

Looks good. I'm not familiar with the paint... what do you thin it with and how long does it take to dry?

thins with white spirits and its touch dry in about 4 hours

That's a quality piece of work. Next paint refresh of my mk5 will be done with rustoleum as well.
Why are you using smaller side windows than the original ones? I'm just curious

the window in the side door was from another transit so im not sure it was an original but it slides open so thats all i need

yeah i think rustoleum do a clear coat ,but the normal stuff reacts with it ,i tried some out of a halfords can on the blue and it reacted like paint stripper so i think it has to be the right stuff

Expensive though, I used that Hycote stuff from a local discount store and it came out like glass

Oh, ok I'm just thinking about installing sliding windows in my mk5... however, I've got window holes already cut, so to make it easy I have to install "official" Trsansit windows.

when i spoke to a rustoleum supplier he said they didn't do a clearcoat? as rustoleum is supposed to stay rubbery this is what makes it a good rust inhibiter. if you clear over the top, with this rubbery characteristics it's liable to crack...

that's just what he said and it was a little while ago so things may have changed...
