The plan was MOT and sell, had the van for 2 years now and thought it was time i upgraded to a newer model. BUT having never let me down except for a ball joint popping against what i might come up against with a MK6 i've decided to keep it!
Put new springs ball joints and track rod ends on the front end, a complete new exhuast. New handbrake cable and new brake shoes.
Changed oil, air filter, fuel filter and blanked off the egr and removed butterfly.
Now it is looking a little scabby round the front wings so I thoght a little exploration is in order, so i dropped the front bumper off to get a better look at the front end and found
This

And this
Image
I think thier should be some metal in ront of the washer bottle, so i rang local ford dealer. How much for an inner wing, £105 they say! It will get fabricated when i replace the wings over the coming weeks.
Also plan is to replace rear doors with a better pair
Image
So the plan is to fit four wings, two archs with sill extensions and repair the inner sill below the sliding door.
Then a change of colour from the horrible btgrey to matt black as i love mattblackminibus's van.
Will keep you updated

Why make a mk5 look like a mk4?
This van would look ace if you put the mk5 grill back on. Replaced the rotten metal and sprayed it white. You could make it look like it left the factory?

Trouble is it left the factory BT grey which is a horrendous colour. MK 4 grill as a MK 6 bumper going on. Can't afford resprays in nice factory colours at the end of the day it's a work van loaded to the gills with all my tackle and the amount ot times I catch walls and gateposts I would be in tears if I made it mint. The budget was/is £500 to make it look half decent with a bit of individuality. I've kept all original parts so at a later date someone else can return it to it's former glory.

Jurys out on this one, not sure if i do actually prefer MK5 bumper. Maybe if i can make up some trim that sits below door and above bumper it might look better.
