I agree and disagree, i think we've put a good case forward here that these gentlemen's vans appear to have been made for those limp wristed types I therefore think that bjt and I should be appointed as fords official van testers, where we get a new van every year to test out and whatever bits fall off we notify Ford.

Bloody junk, my 2.4rwd 3.5t was averaging 37mpg and so much more torque at my disposal.
This 1 2.2 290 fwd skin off a rice pudding is 33mpg.

I've ordered 20 second hand shiny nuts for mine as 4 are scuffed, 20 pounds i think

I have news for you good sir, despite Ford taking things a little bit far where scrimping on quality build is concerned, and the average user doesn't stand much chance with bits falling off in their hands

2 torx then remove cover by pulling, then the lid has 2 dowels and 2 tabs that need splaying to remove it.


Bit of loctite and drill a pilot hole where i have (if yours has broken but left most of the mechanism behind otherwise you'll need to make something?)


Saved myself maybe 50+ quid.

Bloody rusty and about to stain the roof

It may be a bodge but it is undetectable in form and function, plus if Ford had put the screw there in the first place them we wouldn't be where we are now would we

Bit of black hammerite there and you'll never know

Our Al calls it a bodge and he's correct, but remember years ago when parts were user serviceable grease nipples (what's that then?) Shims with threads on (really what's that then?) And so on.

Back to basics
I did spend about an hour looking at replacing the unit but they don't exist

They're in better shape than the 4 on the o/s front wheel, been crushed and scraped so going rusty

There's no rust for a start, it drives nice since i fixed the injector, it's pretty and everyone says so.
It fits under all the barriers I've tried, even the ones that actually make me duck inside the van .

See any vehicle needs looking after, regardless, us Brits like to bitch tho don't we
I'm thinking of contacting Ford and recommend they add locking nuts and storage cupboard handles on their recall list

Ah leap of faith i think there must be 1000 fault free transits driving around to 1 red or black sport that keep breaking surely

Those new connects look nice don't they, I'd like the tourneo 1 if i couldn't have the custom.

Anyway, you need us to keep finding these faults so we can help others fix theirs
