Rover's van. Not getting a new engine!

I havent got a tow eye on the van I threw it away years ago

If it needs a tow it would have to be at least a suspended rear end or dragged on to a tow truck backwards, they can use the back axle for that

Like I said that bumper is different to mine anyway, not hugely different but enough.

I'm sure that grille was ok before the MK5 came out, but if I wanted that look I would've just gone with a MK5 front end.

Well as some of you know my van was supposed to be getting a dohc 8v on carbs, well I drove out to Woodhall Spa on fri to collect it, the engine sounded lovely in the sierra and we were just about to rip it out when it suddenly occured to me how wide it was, out came a tape measure....... Yep, you guessed......it wont fit!!!! Its four inch wider at the carb/manifold than an injection model I would have to do serious bulkhead mods and use a remote brake servo just to get it in there

So a 150 mile round trip, £30 worth of petrol, hundreds of dead insects on the bonnet/screen......and bugger all to show for it

Hey ho, back to the drawing board then

Looks like I will still have to go down the MK5 scrapper route.

I've realised I cant afford to go down that route Alan, she has to be more economical with the next engine or its not worth it, its not just about power for me nowadays I'm afraid
