Getting there now!

Gas locker done, so it was time to get kitchen units finished and plumbed in.

It looks like there is a lot of cupboard and draw space, but having to make the carcass smaller to fit i couldnt use the draw under drainer, and the long narrow cupboard is just a dummy one. And of course the 3 lower draws are now the gas locker.



Grill all fitted.



Fridge all plumbed in, and works a treat on gas.



Oven was in original van, caravan never had one. Not sure what i need the most, the cupboard space or an oven?



Time now to think about the water. I am going to use the original caravan pump etc and not have an onboard water tank, just use a Aquaroll.

So i removed the Carver water heater and Carver Crystal pump and made a template out of the holes. Now offered that up in the camper in the same place under the seats that it was fitted in the caravan.



Hole cut on inside and drill holes to locate where the template needs to go on the outside

Hole lined and one unit fitted

Running pipes under van





Originally the van had the water pipes running on the inside under a trim plate just under the door, but i run it underneath, had to piggy back the pipes to the waste outlet pipe from the bathroom to the grey tank. Must think of some sort of cover plate for it.



So all the water pipes are in, gas fitted to the gally, just got to run a gas pipe under the van for the carver heater and then getting the 12v and 240v properly fitted.

Progress is a little slow of late due to all the small things that need doing now the furniture is in.

But i have wired in the 240 and 12v

Fuse box in for lights, fridge and toilet on one side of van



Another box for lights, water heater, pump and battery condition meter on other side of van



Next job was to tile the galley area, i bought some mosaic tiles thinking they would be easier to fit than standard tiles, but i think i was mistaken.

It was a right pain to cut around the windows and when i finished grouting i noticed the grout lines were not great.

Not all that happy with the finish to be honest.









Just a few more bits of timber to fit to hide up the gaps down the side of the kitchen units and i will be getting the floor layed next.

Its looking more and more likely that i will keep it, (for a while anyhow) Trouble is where do i stop? There is still plenty of bodywork to do, i really need a good second hand bonnet for starters, the door bottoms need replacing, and the scuttle leaks like a sieve, not to mention 6 new tyres! But the engine sounds so nice and still starts on the button. I just love that V6 .

When ive done the interior i will get it ready for an mot, and then i will bring it to some meets as it is.

Now the tiling is done, i can fit the cooker and sink covers





And now for some flooring,. What a difference!!





Ive taken off the outside cover now, and mastic around windows in luton, i need see if there are any leaks before i fit lining carpet to ceiling.

well today is the time to test for leaks with this wether

Your sure right Mark, and guess what?..............it leaks!

Nothing too serious, its the windows in the Luton. Ive mastic around the two front panes, one still has a slow drip so i need to recheck and mastic to the inside. Also the 2 small side windows leak as well, although slowly.

Trouble is, the rain sits on the rubber rather than running off and the join for the rubber is on the bottom! someone had a brainwave when they come up with that idea.

But i think i will have bother if i try taking it out, as they have become hard over the years, and im sure they wont go back in easily, if at all.

So its mastic all the way unless i cannot get seal and then i will have to re-think it

Well things are taking shape nicely now, and its the last few things that makes all the difference.

So i decided on the colour choice of the linings, Sand for the walls and Stone for the ceiling, together with high temperature spray adhesive, around 10 cans.

First thing was to repair the bottom of the rear door as it was squashy, i never really took any notice of it before as it was always open!

Oh and dont try this at home.



So.....Nearly done, well almost. The Mrs is making new curtains and covering the pelmets as well as the padded head protector going into the cab.

Ive still left the luton as i still have a small leak and im not sure how i am going to cover up the torn head lining around the bottom of the windows yet, oh and i still have to line inside the cupboards and make up a base for the bed.

its coming on great £325 doner caravan was certainly worth it,bet your made up at the results so far.all the best with the rest of the project mate.

That caravan was the saving of this van, it was too nice for the money really, anything else that was sold as spares or repair for that money was real dated and worn. But saying that the caravan was only fit for breaking as it was rotten in many places when you started to strip it back.
