I doubt the power figure will be anythings special....

Its the torque that will be interesting

I'm also going to build a custom injection pump.....I need an LDA so I can get enough on boost fuel without leaving black clouds off boost

As long as I have big torque up to 5000 I'm happy.
The smoke thing is like marmite, you either love it, or hate it. Personally I love it
Also I like to get rid of anything in the pump that may restrict the absolute MAX the pump could deliver

torque is more fun than power

as for the smoke....I love it as well

but sadly VOSA/MOT/nik niks/etc don't


so I try and keep it to a minimum off boost.... (I usually drop the revs down if I see the rozzers )

I'm going to build a custom pump soon....
just need to get another transit pump casing, and a clockwise throttle LDA top (most are anti-clockwise )

I have a Land Rover 200Tdi pump in the shed to rob parts off (I will investigate the cam plate )
I obviously have the LR LDA but the throttle is again the wrong way.....

just would have been nice to keep the transit throttle standard



the other option (the naughtier option) I've considered....is whether I could get a Bosch P/M/MW inline pump to fit fairly easily.....
oil feed wouldn't be an issue (I could fit another T piece below the pump :p)

By the way, how much did you shim the governor spring?
I will be doing the same, but I want fuel cut around 4,500rpm instead of 3,750rpm....
perhaps a little more....but the absolute max I would want is 5,000rpm....

just wondering how much you shimmed yours and what rpm your governor kicks in?
would save trial and error for ~1,000rpm more

Doesnt matter....

I had the pump apart and took a gamble

added ~3mm of shims to the main spring and now have ~5,000rpm max revs
so 3mm seems to be a good shim size for those wanting a few more rpm...
Oh and dont forget that the shim also keeps more fuel going in until higher rpm so more power can be made

I shimmed it up until there was about 1mm movement in the governor, just enough to get it back together.
So my governor is pretty useless apart from for idle and mid range.

Dangerous I know but I have 2 spare lumps anyway

Also worth considering is a stiffer spring, I used a VW Golf one before I shimmed it, gave about 5,250 max with cutoff starting about 4000 or so

As long as your willing to be the engine speed governor....who needs one in the pump

mine is shimmed so I can just about get to ~5,000rpm...
Full fuelling to around 4,250 and then it starts reducing the fuel a little.
But it still keeps pulling well

Just need bigger injectors now :O
I cant increase the fuelling any more...

Without the gov mod its got plenty on 70ps injectors......

Just need to save for some injectors now......
Unless I can drill the holes a little

I was doing some research and found out how much air flow your turbo makes

around the 550~600CFM mark

mine doesn't flow quite that much

Just got the oil and boost hoses plumbed up yesterday and took her for a spin
Nice bit of extra torque.............. wait until I change the pump and injectors

Sounds good

Mine sounds like a tractor/lorry engine
But I dont have any silencing


It seems to perform a bit like mine.....great off boost and low boost....but runs out of fuel quickly.....
Hopefully your 130ps injectors will solve the issue

Mine is now revving to 5,000rpm and 12psi all the way because my air filter was blocked

Yeah it's gasping for more fuel. It barely makes any boost yet.
I need to make a side exit exhaust. The footwell gets very hot!
Also time to clean out the intake manifold and I doubt the boost hoses will take any sort of serious pressure

With the injection pump maxed on 70ps injectors and modified governor (5,000rpm) I still can get on boost smoke above 3psi

Mine goes well at 12psi....but 130ps injectors will be bought when I can

As for side exit exhaust....definitely a good idea
You can see the smoke then

Mine is basically a standard exhaust with a single silencer and 90 degree bend on the end.
No silencing material (empty box:P)


It quite restrained and quiet really.......
