Thanks Muttley, from that I know I can connect the black wire anywhere to any discreet part of the bodywork.

Whats a test light? I was hoping someone would say "Connect the Red 12V Positive Wire to the blah* wire"

*= Yellow/Brown for example.

violet/orange one side or *voilet/black** other side for live feed switched by selecting reverse m8. take earth from black wire in cluster or better still earth to body inside somewhere!

***EDIT SCRAP THAT COS STOP/TAILS ARE SAME COLOUR ACCORDING TO HAYNES! DUMB EH? WHY DO THAT

USE THE VOILET/ORANGE ONLY IN LEFT HAND UNIT TO power camera. or have it perm live thru ignition  took power to screen n camera straight off stereo but beware more than one wire!

Just thought I'd post an update.

Managed to get the sat/nav + reverse camera wired up, thanks to Muttley & Robbiecee, sorry for the delayed thanks guys.
Message to chris72a = I have a valid passport, just cover my flights, accom & food & I.ll do ya welding for free
Replaced both front & rear Ford badges as the old ones were looking very tired & dated.
Just added a strip of chequer plate inside the n/s door used gripfill to attach it to the doorcard, not a great job but looks ok & does its job.

Re: Remote Central Locking 2 front doors

Postby RonTransitmk5 » Tue Sep 25, 2012 5:01 pm

Looking to add remote central locking to the 2 front doors. Would prefer all round but cannot afford that.
Seem some kits for £18-£24, are they good enough?
Can anyone suggest any that will fit my bus? there are so many about.

Oil Burning Question

Postby RonTransitmk5 » Tue Sep 25, 2012 5:04 pm

Took the family to North Wales a few weeks ago, covered almost 1,000 miles, no problems whatsoever except had to top up approx 2l of engine oil.
Is that normal? just curious

Lookin good mate.
Re oil,did you check before journey so you know it used 2 litres or have you just, noticed it was low? Only asking cos it does seem a fair bit to use!
Central locking kit might Be ok but be easier to use stuff from another transit!

Keep up the good work mate!

Checked oil just before left & topped up straight after.
Will check the oil filter is tightend in the morning & look for any leaks.
Been looking for a donor van for almost 6 months now for the c/l e/w, passenger door & various other little parts to no avail as all too expensive for what I want.
Would prefer a donor van ideally, but could really do with front c/l asap so was looking at the £18-£24 kits.
Are they that difficult to make them fit?

Just logged on to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Message to Robbie.cee, would have loved to have taken you up on your offer re the c/l as you are only up the road, however I have been quite ill this year hence why I have not been on the forum. Will get in touch in the new year as very interested how you got on with your removable seats, as I am planning on putting 3 rows of double removable seats in the rear of my bus sometime in the new year.

I would like to wish everybody a Healthy & Wealthy 2013.

Hi Robbie,

Thanks for your reply, been quite lazy  the last week so now it's time to get off my arse & things sorted on my bus.
Decided to keep the front 3 seats as they are & get the 5 rear seats fitted on the unwin tracks somehow,

Managed to get several lengths of unwin tracking, 5 seats, 8 clamps attached to feet, looking at where to start re fitting it all. Need to buy the fixings & end caps (if needed) just spent the last couple hours removing all seats & some plastic trim, just been searching on here & the vw forum for tips on how to install. Now I am even more confused then ever  I just wanna get stuck in & fit the bloody things
Have you done yours yet?

Still trying to get c/l for front 2 doors, see post above re Muttley, not sure now if I should go for this & try get missing parts to complete, buy a universal c/l kit from eBay or fit a remote alarm with c/l included.
I think it was AlanN or Tony that suggested the alarm route when we met up @ Newham, I am tempted to go this route with a cat 1 alarm if I can get one that's suitable & don't cost a fortune.

Off to try & make sense of how to get the seats & tracking fitted
