This is bizarre! You marshalled the Tulpen rally, you must be a Dutchman….. :?
I’m in mail contact wit Bob because he navigated in some Works Datsun’s
Why I must have a Helphos, I better put a searchlight on the roof. 8)

I also have my hesitations about the black bonnet. It makes the front/nose to small, to dark. Perhaps it is different when you bring in the Oscars. or still a white bumper??

Dutchman ?

Postby Terry » Thu Feb 08, 2007 10:19 pm

Sorry not a Dutchman, but a (then) crazy Englishman, Rallying was EVERYTHING.

For the Tulip I asked for the Monday (after the event ) off work and the company said NO, so I quit & they said the classic' You can't do that' & I replied with the classic 'Watch me' :)

It went on for quite a while...........

And it all got so expensive.

Image
Even ( freelance) 'servicing' which is what I did was prohibitively costly.
So I got out ! :)
I got a little black book with me poems in

Problems

Postby Terry » Fri Feb 09, 2007 12:24 am

Photo bucket is having problems, but all I had to photograph were a couple of handwritten lists of the running order ....
One shows.....

15th March , Car order at Figuera da Foz ( before stage 2)
4th car 18 Datsun (Withers),
13th car 7, Sclater (Withers),

The second sheet.
16th March after Stage 9 (Penacova Bridge)

16th car 18 Datsun.

This list stops at place 20 !
I don't appear to have an entry list.

If I let go of the old rally colours red and black and go this way, what do you think? Cheerful is it not?

The example I found on the website, changed the colours a bit. Now it has datsun colours on it; red, white and blue.

The Lucases are 5" and to small for this kind of Van's, they are doing good on MG's. Might try sell them on eBay.

transit bonnet

Postby Mike N » Sat Feb 10, 2007 10:55 pm

Why not paint the top of the front wings black, that would match the black bonnet, it would look good as if it should be there and not like a new unpainted spare had just been chucked on?

Mike.
What a cool Transit!!

I've still got the 2-way radios from my 1974 Escort and Transit service barge in the loft! Should still work!

No reason why they shouldn't work.........£40pr

I'll try and source some aerials too if you're serious...

Might still have some other bits, lights etc.

I'll take a look in the morning.....

Radio's

Postby Terry » Sat Feb 17, 2007 9:38 pm

I am serious, a friend races an Integra and we need pit to car radios
We have a set ex Carling but they don't work & the (original supplier people) in Dartford say they can't get bits, and none of us are radio people ! Are they 'in car' or handhelds ?
