Things are really taking shape now, hopefully be on the road Thursday 24th as insurance should start then. Couldn't get my insurance swapped from my other van as the tourneo comes up as a car, lol, can't work that out but insurance company have transferred my 8 years commercial no claims bonus to the tourneo car insurance.

Still not sure what's causing the battery light but I'm thinking of buying a new voltage regulator and trying that.

Also any one have any suggestions on sorting out a floppy gear leaver, I have check the 10mm bolt at the gear box end and that is tight.

Transit van is vehicle cat N1 (Light goods vehicle)

Tourneo is vehicle cat M1 (passenger vehicle) same as normal cars & MPV's. Plus you can drive at the normal speed limits set for cars.
& road tax price is different compared to vans

I thought that only applies for vehicles with up to 8 seats, I have always been told if it has 9 seat's it's a mini bus, I. E commercial vehicle

Standing at the front looking at the engine on the right hand side of the block just below the lifting eye there is a plastic wrapped loom that runs around the corner of the block.
Over time this abrades and chaffs the loom . I suffered the same problem as you and after getting advice on here checked the loom at that point and found a red wire chaffed through .
That was the problem.
Good luck.

Well I haven't been doing much on my van over the last few days, I have loads of bits on order but cause of a little bunny that has chocolate eggs I have to wait for the delivery.

I have pick up a few parts today, I managed to get the air-con parts that are missing from my van so hopefully I can get it all up and working now, also got some replacement side door cards and a back door card. Slowly getting the van around to good.

I have to pull my wiring loom apart as my speedo is messing about and the battery light is staying on, my best guess is when the engine was replaced ( badly ) the loom has been pulled about and hopefully it's just a few broken wires.

Fingers crossed.

Out of interest does anyone know what price and best place for a vehicle speed sensor as that's what the code reader is showing up.

We I managed to get a few hours work on my van yesterday, I fitted most of the air conditioning parts to the van. I picked up a job lot of bit on Sunday, so now it's nearly all complete.

I also checked the wiring loom to the alternator and speedo sensor, the wiring all checked out fine, the alternator is over charging and the battery light is on, it's showing up near 16 volts, need to sort that out ASAP, the speedo has been messing about over the last few days, my scanner says the sensor is faulty, need to get that changed.

Well I have had quite a few delivery's yesterday and today, I have now got a single passenger seat frame, new seats for the front of the van, new mk7 rear lights, lower gearbox mount, alternator regulator, dlr wiring loom, clear side indicators.

I have managed to fit the lower gearbox mount, started to fit the new regulator on the alternator. Hopefully tomorrow I will get that finished, fit my rear lights, fit the side indicators, and see what else I can sort out,

Well I have finished fitting the regulator and it has made sod all difference.

I have now fitted my new mk7 rear lights, run the reverse camera wire from front to back, I have also fitted my new HID bulb kit, so slowly getting through the list.

I now have more bodges to sort out I have lost all rear movement of the gear leaver, the cable was taped into the bracket, it's now broken up.

I can't seem to get a break with this van, hopefully I will solve all the bodges and naff repairs and end up with a decent van. Well fingers crossed.

Well I have been out and had another play with my van, today I have wired in my ipod adapter and my 6 disk cd changer to my pioneer avic X1.

I have also replaced the diesel filter head and the pipes to the pump, I took the bits of my other tourneo, when I pulled the filter of it was full of diesel, when I have been taking my filter of its always been half empty. I think there might be a air leak, I fitted the filter head and run the van, then I wanted to fit a fresh filter, my van filter was full this time. Hopefully problem solved. Last job I done was remove the top gearbox mounting bolts, clean the bolts and copper greased them and made sure this time they went in tight, who ever worked on the van before me didn't know that they where ment to be tight, they where all half way out, made the engine move about loads.

Hopefully the engine will stay put now after I have repaired both top mounts and replaced the bottom mount.

Well after sorting out the gearbox top mount I now have a major clearance problem. The alternator it's touching the shaft on the steering column. I'm guessing it's a mondeo mount and is pushing the alternator back. Will find out as I have a transit mount coming tomorrow. Need to swap the alternator as it's Messing about.

Today I have done some more little bits, wired in my volt and boost gauge and connected the reverse pick up for my stereo so the rear view camera will work. Just need to fit that but I want to swap the tailgate first.

Still small progress

How did you do the boost gauge did you t into the vacuum from actuator or is the a sender somewhere, I have a pack of gauges on my birthday list boost, volts, oil pressure, oil temp, water temp and outside air temp. Most are straight forward I just don't know how to do the boost.

Many thanks. N

It needs to be T'ed into the inlet side of the system, mine is a tdci so there is no actuator on the turbo, if it was a tddi then the small pipe from the turbo to the actuator is where to T in to

Been a busy day, swapped both sliding doors and rear barn door from my trailer project as the side doors have opening windows that the kids will benefit from plus will make the trailer a little more secure.

I also fitted my reverse camera number plate surround.

Well the van has been fine all weekend, until Sunday evening, went out and it had lost all boost,I have sorted that out this morning with refitting the turbo outlet pipe.

So I can now start doing more fun bits. This afternoon pulled out the twin passenger seat and fitted a single seat on a modified seat base, it's seems very high compared to the standard seat but it's at the same hight, need the foam to bed in.

Hopefully the drivers side seat will get swapped over this evening, changing the way it's mounted to sit the seat lower as it doesn't feel right for me.
