yup more transits than cars around here!! usaly about 6 in the morning within sight of my house.

I'v had it since friday and I'v been stoped twice already by people wanting to chat!! One earliyer today recons he may have a bonnet for her!
Aparently all the local old boys spotted her as soon as she turned up and everyones watching to see what happens to her!
Well she is going to disapear tomorow loaded up with my welding gear.Taking her to a garage I'v rented to strip down the front and sort her out.I'v given myself till the end of next month to get her mot'd and save up the tax and insurance cash! (driving her 3rd pary at the mo on my main car insurance..she will get her own fully comp before shes back on the road)

 Watch out mate, you won't be insured to drive it as your 3rd party bit of your car insurance covers you to drive vehicles belonging to other people and they have to be insured in the owners name, also your car insurance won't cover a transit 3rd party even if it belonged to someone as it is a commercial vehicle.

Your best off ringing around and getting a short term policy before driving it as you can get between 6 and 8 points for driving with no insurance if your caught.

Already informed the insurance that in driving my wifes van that will eventualy be her disabilit camper.(keeper is not necessarily legal owner) Nothing in my policy that says it needs to be insured with her and the woman at the insuranc says if its not on policy its not tru. im not going to argue with her. I have two policys with them, one for me and one for a comfy vehicle I use when wife coming out with me,I often have a van on one policy, as its easyer to get a wheelchair in when she needs one.

Iv had an IN10 before (due to backstreet garage I was owrking for saying I was insured to drive the mechanics truck..not tested or taxed either..juge let me off with them as I was driving a works van and not my falt..IN10 has minimum 6 points under law, nothing he could do to reduce it)and dont intend to get another.
My insurance (NFU) was happy to agree that I was covered.I ALWAYS inform my insurance and get a car added for 24hrs when needed.
I try and not make the same mistake twice.

NFU stands for national farmers union.. Their quite used to vans, tractors etc

Anyway its not a commercial vehicle. it’s a camper!! It bed, oven ,storage etc. .Christ it was fully equipped with pots and pans and plates. It will all be going back in..or better. I think I’ll have no problems with DVLA changing it to a camper..
Anyone know the routine with DVLA. will they want to inspect it etc?

Have removed all the front panels.. someone’s been in there before me and done quite a nice job on the sides below the lights.. but it will all have to be re-done. Camera was flat.. will get some batteries tomorrow and take some pictures.

My part of the V5 says

Ford transit 100L.
2450 kg gross.

I know its not registered as a camper. That does not mean its not one. Bit diffcult to get a pallet in there! Docs don't reflect what van is.I was just wondering how much grief it would be to change this.

What I meant was does it say "panel van" anywhere on the log book?

Also do you have the full log book? Cos if you just have the tear off new keeper bit it dosen't tell you as much as the main bit.

No I only have the new keeper bit. The stupid bit that doesn’t even have the chassis number on!!

Though the "Transit 100 L" is under Model/type so I asume that will be on the main docs.

Yes I’ll get some pictures taken tomorrow and get them posted ASAP.
I hate the idea of using box section to replace the x-member.
So I may just try and repair it. If it turns out crap I will cut it off and use the box section.
But I will do it as good as I can.
Most of what I do now will be patching her up so that I can get some use!
