The springs came from a specialist firm in Edinburgh - I'm not sure what there called as they were aquired by our sponsor (stockcar racing) and donated to us - I think they paid about £80.00 a side plus VAT.
Compared to the ones that were on they seem rock solid.

that step area looks about standard, i think they came out of the factory looking like that, those stupid plastic covers, best thing you can do is take them out and bin them.

as for the front arches, yup, another ford cock-up in the design department, all i can suggest is wax-oil, and gallons of it

Passed its MOT first attempt - on Friday - couldn't believe it - Sorted.
Just the paintwork to go.

i take it you didnt need a big flat bed ? or is that as big as you could go (kinda looks short with only a small car on there)
and what have you hidden behind those ally tread plate side sills

I thought that too as after all the hard work that was documented on here that does look like it is hiding something which would be a shame if it isn't as the rest of the restoration looks to have been done real well.

I would have thought so too, but that would be the first question I would have if I was thinking of buying it, afterall it isn't somewhere that suffers from grit being thrown up from the front wheels. How many ebay listed vans do we see that have chequer plate in strange places and the question gets asked? Much better to not have it there as it avoids that question, afterall it isn't the Lara Croft Landrover is it

Ok - Here goes,

The ally treadplate - Yes they are covering 2 small holes either side.I did look in to getting repair panels but they are unavailable for a chassis cab as the section is quite short in length.
But I saw it on a mates van and thought it looked good - it was more of a pain to bend to shape than making my own repair panel from sheet so I dont know if i would do it again.There is plenty waxoil behind it and the drain holes are still there.

Colour scheme - metallic silver below the pinstripe line and ford moonstone pearl (blue) above the line - will post a photo soon as its done.
Just bought the paint £150.00 !

The bed length - it was designed to take a sierra for stock car racing and it does fit but the boot hangs over the edge. You are allowed a 1m overhang. The overall length is a bit restricted by the cab which is required for spares and tools etc.
We did consider extending the chassis and bed further but decided that anything longer than the wheelbase of the sierra was redundant anyway!!! so why bother !

The tractor - its a 1972 Nuffield 4/25. Makes mowing the lawn less of a task ! chops up logs / drags cars around / ploughs up flower beds / purchased brand new by my Father in law.

The Elise is my Wife's, its a 2004 135R track day special. and is unstickable.

The Fiat is also my wife's - she uses it during the winter and on very rainy days as no Elise is water tight. (the Elise goes up for sale in August this year if anyones interested )

The Fiat by the way was £500 2 years ago and is the most reliable cheap to run vehicle we have ever had - although I reckon I could see it off with my van !

The Van is for sale - but have not come up with a price yet. What do think its worth ?

Id love the elise But id have the have a lockup like your green container in the background! Wouldn't last a night down here honestly mate since xmas a bloke and his son were both stabbed at seven in the morning for the keys to a VWR32 and last week a another bloke was attacked with a machete for his keys! The old bill parked a huge marked van outside the one blokes house for about two months for fear that they would come back and finish bloke and son off as they were witnesses!
