The odd coin still appears.

The rot does appear localised... so hopefully just 2 bits of strip required - but as soon as the wire brush comes out who knows.

I had a nice trip planned to Essex yesterday to get better doors... but the guy pulled out so just got a cab mat (which was also arranged)

Been putting things back together today. With the battery connected - it starts... (but not tried anything else yet). I put the 56 plate harness in - which has everything the limited did ex except AUX in - so need to find a standalone wire. I did try pulling it out of the limited harness but it goes al the way across via the phone unit.

2 of the heater duct pipes were swines... must have spent the best part of 2 hours on just those today

Unfortunately the limited spec fabric seats are absolutely mining - so some Tomy seats are going in. They just need a quick going over with the upholstery cleaner.

My question now is - change the headlining or not

The cab headlining can be stretch carpeted over with anthracite and looks lovely. But some new fur tree clips, remove the lining, glue the carpet on and fanny is your aunt. :D

I have 3 headlinings to choose from

This one is grubby and smells of dog - one of the others is somewhat better

Needless to say the one in the van is different than the other 2 because of the alarm.

I can't be bothered cutting holes - so out comes the upholstery cleaner.

Can you tell which bit I have done?

Well, other than the passenger seat (the middle rear bolt holding the seat the the other van stripped its head  ) the cab is back together -and it doesn't rattle!

The Traction control light is on (I assume the SAS needs recalibrating) but otherwise all seems to be well :D The cab is a much nicer place to be.

Unfortunately the leak off O rings haven't fixed the diesel leak :( (I assume its still diesel and not oil/water - I haven't checked yet) so that needs further investigation, it has made it better.

The handbrake light doesn't go off unless you push the handbrake lever down (did that before) - I don't know if its a common issue?

The engine started hunting (had only driven a few 100 yards) so a pump/pilot learn and possibly an SCV/PRV is on the cards. The engine also sounds a bit rough. Now the cab is cleared I can hear all the other noises and rattles... its definitely got an engine whine, I can't decide if its a boost leak or the turbo spooling or even the aux belt, and the brakes are noisy (new pads required maybe?).

It seems a bit flat for a 140PS, and there are too many gears  I found myself in 4th gear rather than 5th or 6th most of the time.

I have also misplaced my V-linker which is a pain

Sounds like you've got most of it in hand. Most brakes, can't be many things, rough disks, worn pads, could be corrosion on the edges as the caliper is so close, strip and inspect/clean will sort it.

The handbrake needs tightening because the slack is forcing the handle up 2x 13mm nuts inner the van wd40 wire brush and 2 spanners. There's a little tab on the switch just under the lever that you can bend for now if you want

SAS recal appears to have fixed the TC light - but I haven't driven it off the farm again yet because of the diesel leak.

I have identified that somewhere between 1 and 3 of the injectors are leaking at the steel pipe union - so they need replacing. I think the smoke the previous owner was talking about was actually underbonnet smoke

Oh and the brake servo has stopped servoing. Theres not as much suck from the vac pump as I would expect... but there is 100% a problem with the connection to the servo. The pipe fell off it!

Will nick bits off the donor on Monday and see what happens...

I've never replaced the metal pipes they are quite good, just tighten the 17mm nuts up.

Rwd servos can block due to them melting the pipe connection and it blocks them up. Not sure why it happens but I think inspect it and if needed get a new pipe and servo pump with gasket.

Swapped the pipe... no change. So it was time to get a bit more involved.

I think I found the problem. Now need to wait for parts to put it back together...

Cheap aftermaket gasket and seal for the vac pump turned up yesterday - so thats now on, with the pump from the donor, and I have brake assistance again 8)

Lets see if (or when?) its going to leak...

But I am still lacking a non broken water manifold/thermostat housing - so I can't go anywhere yet...

Thermostat housing on, new diesel pipes on and its up and running* brakes work

Today I fitted better rear doors (picked up on a 600 mile round trip yesterday), passenger seat put in and it had a towbar added. I've taken it to my dads and given it a wash. I've started cutting the paint (passenger door only so far) and a lot of the paint marks/spodges are coming off...

* its using water and is smoking - seemingly from the EGR cooler. Thats a little job to look at...

Quick check you can bypass it with some copper water pipe :P they're either fitted or not fitted randomly too
I didn't have 1 on my 2.4 2007 140ps (snowflake)but my 2.4 2006 140ps has 1  don't need it really.
