The MK 5 has different engine mounts ,they have a support bracket that touches on the gear box .
On the LDV convoy I have just sold it had the same gear box MT75 but with a Peugeot engine they used a peace of box section bolted from the engine mounts to a point near the clutch cable hole I will make the same support for the Hymer . :)

MK3 & 4 Di's had the support there too i think

so long as you get some rubber between the box and the chassis - it will do the trick, oftern they alter things later because its cheeper to make rather than its better - the mk2 style rubbers/mounts will work fine :D i'd just go with what ever suits the van and the tools materials you have access to :D

12 JAN 2008 4 hour
Big day today the new engines went in I had the same trouble the crane it was not close enough, but after 15 minutes messing about it went in .The the trouble started getting the gear box to slide onto the input shaft, I think it was that the gear box was a little high so after 15 minutes messing about under the Hymer it went on. I then fitted the gear lever and got my fist shock :? I could not get it into gear no matter what I did it would not go into any gear .....30 minutes latter and a cup of coffee I thought I would take the lever out .Then it dawned on me I was angling the lever over to the left (THE HYMER IS LEFTHAND DRIVE)and sliding it in ,I did not no that you could fit the lever and it would bolt on as if everything was OK ,but it was not ,anyway panic over everything is al wright now a good day:D :D PS there was no cluch at all but I thought this would happen ,it was the cable that was too long so I sliped a 17mm socket over the cable and threaded it back on ,it worked .I will have to turn a proper sleve latter OR BUY A KNEW 17MM SOCKET  .

I got all the littel time consuming jobs done today I finished the wiring and the bracket that holds the explanation tank on ,then it was time to fire her up BUT the battery's were flat from the inspection lamp so I charged the starter battery up for a couple of hours then I gave her a try AND NOTHING she just spun and spun and spun until the battery was flat again I checked the live feed to the pump OK I pulled off the feed from the fuel tank to the lift pump and there was fuel , I had change the fuel filter but I did not fill it to the top with fuel so it must be air locked to hell tomorrow ,I will undue the injectors and spin her over until fuel gets to them then I will have another go . :(

I had the battery on charge over night so this morning about 8am I tryed her and gess what she fired the noise was like a drag racer but it sounded sweet to me so that set the days work ,off to buy the exhaurst to my suprise they had every thing in ,it cost £110 not that bad ,so home and changed then fit it, it was the same as the mk5 exhaurst so I thought I would have some modifictions to do but all in all I had to cut 50 mm off the middle section and weld two knew hanggers and thats about it .The frount section sat tight on the crossmember but it as to be pulled up by the knew hannger and the axel was near the rear section but the knew hangger there will sort in out so that was a good days work for me I'm not too knackerd but it looks like I will be getting wet the next few days. :) :)

I just sorted the altenator problem out with the help of ROVER CHEERS MATE I put the wire for the charging light on the middle pole on it's own and bingo the light went out on start up .THEN AFTER 10 SECONDS OF RUNNING THE ENGINE DIED, AND SHE WOULD NOT START, so I checked every thing and nothing was a miss ,the engine was wiring over fine so I puled the fuel pipe off at the lift pump and there was no fuel there so the engine had started on what was in the filter ,so I turn her over untill the battery went flat and then I went in pig sick and fedup. :x

I did my second modification today the fan was fouling on the front cross member so after a cup of coffee and a think I dismissed putting a smaller fan on ,so I cut a section out of the cross member big enough to allow for the movement of the engine and it was fine .I will weld a strengthener on it later .I completed welding the exhaust mounts and the strengthener to the gear box cross member .I filled the radiator up and after I had bled the fuel system again she was off and running ,this time I could let her tick over for a few minutes then rev her until she was warmed up ,BUT NO SHE DIED AGAIN NO FUEL GETTING PICKED UP BY THE LIFT PUMP .The Hymer had three pipes going to the injection pump I may have connected the wrong one but I can suck fuel with a little electric fuel pump I have through the pipe I connected to the lift pump so it must be the right one ,the only thing for it is to change the lift pump. And yes I'm getting there :) .PS has anyone seen a power steering settup like this one .
