ye she was screaming bout 4300rpm i am sure the police had her chipped as our other van tops out at 90/95 either that or a different diff ratio i havent checked to see what the ratio is yet but i am sure it aint 5.14

ye thanks fred she has just been up to sheffield and back all 480 miles of it no probs what so ever used just£40 worth of diesel, i am happy with that and will be looking to keep her for a bit longer now

I know the feeling mate , the roads round here are terrible and it doesnt help having a building site up my street either , mud chalk and clay on the road , cant wait till they have finished , but the speed they are working it will be next year its a constant battle trying to keep the van clean

ye if you keep her just under 3000rpm bout 70mph ish the fuel seems to last forever but if you boot her to a ton or so she does about 150 miles to a tank

ok more probs now i was driving home tonight when a lot of smoke appeared in front of me popped the bonnet to find water pi**ing out between head and block so looks like the gasket has gone

Of course it could be that you're running an engine that's supposed to be limited to 4000rpm at 4300!

it could well be i know i read somewhere that di's dont like being revved to more than 4000rpm but i have no idea how to limit my engine as there no throttle cable apart from fitting a block under the pedal ..

Well that wold probably reduce your fuel bills!
I went in search of the rev limit on my van a few days ago. I hit 4000rpm but it just kept going and I lost my nerve, sounded like it was about to come through the bulkhead. I'm slightly worried about the MOT emissions test when they run it up to the limiter. What will happen? Does it have a limiter? Will I come back to find my engine distibuted around the garage and mechnics in ambulances?
