good stuff

as much as that mk1 looks like a complete wreck - looking closer it's seems to be solid in many of the usual rot spots :D

I have alot more pics but thought I'd let everyone see these ones first

Need to pick someones brain about amount of welding on chassis and passing PSV test :(

I've had the two of them for about 18months but only really getting time to work on them now.

Problem is the red one is rusting away (goes without saying) and I have no where to dry store her :(
Oh how I long for the day when the rust is all gone!!!!! :-)

Some pictures of the wleded chassis

These are the areas I beleive to be of importance in relation to the chassis strength and safety. These areas appear to have been repaired at some point and they look ok but are they???????

Although I don't like it......

A steam off and coat of Schutz should see a pass

The welds look OK and a tester can only bang/scrape them with

a plastic/ally corrosion assessment tool so.....Pass :)

When you are dealing with corosion always think "Iceberg" what you can see is only the tip! Although it may look ok your chassis has had more than a fair bit of tinworm. As you have it all exposed I would have a decent go with a large pointy object and see what happens. If it is sound then you wont do much more than scratch it. If you go through the it needs welding! Simple really!!

That's what I feared someone might say :? :?

Since there's so much work needing done, is there anywhere I can just get chassis legs??????

I don't think that looks bad, the welding is the same quality as the welding madvanman'e done on ours and the VOSA (spot check) types said it wad 'adequate', which is high praise indeed coming from them

I think I'll be out with my chippin hammer over the weekend and see what it sounds like.

P.S. The welding isn't mine - previouse owners work.

for my body work i used my spade   maybe it made more work that there was as for the chassis i use a club hammer where it looks a bit odd and maybe use a flat head screw driver to rub the rust of to see how it is if just surface rust then i use a wire brush on a grinder and some spray on bitcho

but thats me

Why do you want it to have a PSV test? Did you mean MOT, or does PSV not mean Public Service Vehicle in Ireland?

I asked in another thread and never got a reply.
