if the thought of welding mig doesnt put you off you'll pick it up no probs it's quite easy with practice and very usefull once you can do it

we want to keep it but jay says that the floors wet where the doors let water in, so if the whole wooden floor is sodden then where do we go from there, obviously to repair the floor i've got to rip out ALL the interior, is it worth that and then rebuilding the cupboards or is it just worth breaking it or not bother takin it home at all?

this has been on ebay for ages, i think THE main problem is the bulkhead, the rear floor is another issue, the main one is the bulkhead being rotton, like ive said ive seen a couple of these with rotton bulkheads and its a major job sorting it out if your not sure about it i would leave it there if i were you

Don't want to muddy the waters or be a prophet of doom, but weren't these Landliners based on LWB vans rather than chassis cabs?
There may be a ply floor over the top of the original, but it would concern me that water in through the back door may cause more than just damage to the wooden floor.
There're a few Landliners on the forum - it might be worth asking about the construction of the camper section too.

I think the bit I'd worry about would be getting it to where its going to be worked on.
Then you can work out what has to be done to it.If the worse comes to the worse it should break for a few bob.

i would be concerned about damp,most landliners well most motorhomes now are getting very damp in the walls etc but it might be ok, it has been on ebay many times does this meen alot of people have walked away from it!

I agree with what you're saying mark,the trouble with damp in motorhomes is that if it gets into the insulation it spreads like hell and never dries out.
I'd be worried about buying a vehicle that has to be transprted on the grounds of cost.Buying a vehicle unseen without tax or ticket I think you have to have at the back of your mind that it might be too far gone to save in which case paying more that it will sell for in bits is a bit unsafe.
having said that with welding and damp,to a certain extent if you can do the work yourself the biggest outlay is time and if you've enough of that even a rot box might be worth taking on.Farming work out,especially now with labour rates (but not necessarily the wages) being so high,buying one that needs a lot of work is never going to be economic.

bacondozen did you even go and see neil about this camper..i looked at it i think in april last year (2008) only looked at it as it was a transit camper and looked diffrent.I was in his yard collecting a car for someone else(another of neils special)To be fair to the bloke he does have some nice motors in the yard but there is a fair bit of rubbish as well.
But also for something diffrent like this its sometimes worth it to travel for nice things..I went nearly 500 miles round trip to pick up my exx AA spec lift And bought that unseen..

Hello Jay,no I haven't looked at it.I would have had a go a while back but business wise I'm busy but with the prats from the council painting yellow lines all over the place there's hardly room to stand a bike.
I'd be interested to hear how it all turns out.The idea of a three litre landliner is tempting though.
