hi to update ive not had much time on the van since breaking my leg earlier this year, but now back on my feet and back in work, the main mission now is waterproofing for winter, £200 of rubber fitted!! the doors where a nightmare to fit and line up with the wings, (note to all ive used fiberglass reproduction wings and bonnet from SMITH AND DECAN!!!!!! they wher realy badly made even the inerwing shelf was a inch and half to high to meet the top of the iner wing took many hours fetteling and still not happy with the results well worth the extra pennys for steal) the roof has now been painted white and il fit it soon as time alows (anyone any sugestions for the tent/canvas bit on the pop top roof?)pictures coming soon
eventualy got some progress done on the van and took some pics,
repaired and painted back door
need the correct window rubber if enyone knows where to get some the ruber i got is simillar to the front and fits the glass and metal but fits very badly in the corners and middle where the door curves out?
roof sanded primed and painted new edge rubber seal
window in wow what an effort definatly not a job you can do on your own
all the shiny bits goin back on still need some decent indicators
roof on wagon sheet off!!
some more progress on the inside wostly wood from old bed and scaff plank work top and about 3 days of sanding
switch panel for 240volt on/off, tv tuner box on/off, and remote sensor for tv
plumbed in some gas and got this little heater for the stove top works orite for now, and guss it would have been rude not to test the kettle also fixed brakes, exhaust and water tank for sink bihind the drivers side footwell. thanks for any comments more to come sone
Great work there you'r doing. From the photo below, you cut and spot welded the new section of metal every inch, did you weld again in between or filled it in with filler. I have seen other projects on different treads with this type of methiod and always wondered about the gap from the finished part.
TRANSITS KEEP YOU GOING!!!, GOING!!! AND GOING!!!!!!
hi i spot weld the panels on to try and stop the metal warping with the heat, but still needs filling after. if i was to fully weld the panels the heat would deform the whole door.
About the welding...Always a matter of choosing between two evils. If you plugweld, there's always a change water comes through and rust reappears, but seamwelding, like I've done ,distorts the panelwork for sure. I think I'll need a lot of putty...
hi all managed to do a bit more on the van this week mostly interior stuff due to the constant rain hear
some pics
eventually finished making the doors for the units
also insulated what i can with this stuff its like foil coated bubblewrap, says it equel to 75mm of polystyrein only bout 3.5mm thick. and buy 1 get 1 free at bnq
got some tent material to make the pop up roof fixed it to the roof and van with strips of plastic and screws
thats all for now not far from finished more pics to come just need to do seats and covers, carpets, finish insulation, waxoyl, rear bumpers . . . . . . . .
That's looking good mate - there's some good skills going on there

hi all me again been a while. time for round two been a hectick last two years with work abroad and moving house. finaly got things settled now. unfortuanitly the van has been left out side leglected for the last year its suffered badly the paint work that i never laquered has faded very badly and will need a new spray job. i didnt fit a a s eal on the bonet and the crap fiber glass wings dont have gutters, so this halet rain water into the air box and resukted in the engine seising up. got the old girl into a dry unit now a n unseized the engine, took off the heads and gave the pistons a good hammering lol. then rebuilt it and realised there was no compreshion so out with the pistons a freed off the stuck piston rings all but the last one that i snaped after a full day of teasing the rest free argghhh. so new rings were ordered and fitted new gaskets again eventialy got it running today after a week off timing trubles and scratching heads
