Then let us know how you get on with the welding. Becase I didnt knew mig could do the job, but have bought welding rods adaptet for cast iron, but after a month using it it cracked again, on the side of the weld. I even warmed it up before welding , and even after welding . and imersed it in sand too cool slowly.

Problems you will encounter are the compression ratio will be to high. The turbo motor runs @18.3:1.
The nat asp runs @20.8:1 which could result in DET/game over

I have a turbo head on mine, which drops the CR a bit (how much I am not sure because the turbos have different pistons too!)

Mine is an 89 di, at least the head!
Its been a year since turboed, and still starts first time and running smooth. 8) fingers crossed!
I have always kept it to the max with the oil level, or even higher, so the splashes by the crank would cool off a little the pistons.

well the turbo we used is off of an RS turbo and my reasoning was yeah the RST revs higher but the DI has a bigger displacement so it should work but now i can see why diesels use really small exhaust housings, the T3 works really good and its got loads more power buti think if i can get a T3 compressor on a smaller exhaust turbine it'll boost it up a load
