£300 for the camper
£180 to transport her back
£120 for the weller wheels.

£80 a day for welding (mates rate for 8 hrs! ), £10 for the workshop rent when I use it so far 7 days done so £600 ish!

Probably spent another £250 on replacement panels, engine parts and sheet metal etc.. so far anyway

By the time its painted finished and on the road I reckon £2 - 2500 total cost. but at least it will have no rot and be mint well as close as can be

I still body work to do door bottoms are well shot but ive got a door skin off a mk1 mini (mk1s have a square corner on them) and look like it might work as a repair panel. The floor had been welded up before and looks like a patchquilt but it will have do for now.Mine was a CI camper but when we went to push it(clutch stuck) out of its resting place the back corner gave way and when got it home found all wood framing to be rotten so now its a chassis cab/pickup any way good luck with the build

Hi All,

You would not believe it but yes she is now fully legal and mot'd after 7 months of welding, painting and woodwork!!

I took her for her first run down to shepton mallet nass festival at the weekend but she overheated on the way down after 100 miles, I called recovery and they said she was fine so carried on and made it there ok with a bit of a mis fire occassionally.

Could not find any reason for the overheating, she had new thermostat with hole drilled in it, no blockages and water pump has no play?

My temp gauge has never worked though so bought a new aux Temp gauge from halfords with electronic sender just so i could keep an eye on her.

On the way back it became apparent he was wrong as she would not get over 30mph for 70 miles and then blew both heads by havant.

Hey Ho just changed the head gaskets and will set her up again, re time and hopefully will be ok.

James

every single bit has been welded seam sealed then i wire brushed, red oxided all the metal, stone chipped under the arches and painted all other metal with chassis black.

In the back I ripped out all rotten wood, treated and replaced all batoning where needed, re insulated the roof and walls before replacing hardboard and fitting 4 led 3 watt halogens in the roof panel.

Well done on the mot.
You must feel proud of yourself .
What insulation did you use on the rear as I've ripped mine out to sort out a load of leaks.
