1982 Apparently not an Ex-AA Crewcab Spec-lift

I had RYF 44Y! It was unfortunately rear ended on the M4 at Heston That had a sliding door as did all the motorway vans I will be at Hayling next month and look forward to seeing it. The Aircraft wheel on the boom would be a later addition but def makes heavy lifting easier on the truck!

Finally, someone who knows about the wheel. I have asked loads of people and everyone says they have never heard of such a thing!! Do you have any idea of what pressure goes in it, as whenever we have tried it out, it just squashes under pressure, and don't want to go blowing it up to exploding point!!

The "Wheel" was an option from Brimec to take the strain off the vehicle.....

I had one with my 1983 Transit spec bought new from Brimec....

I never used it as the weighted bumper kept my wheels on the deck

They had Helicopter tyres which were inflated to 100psi

MAE is a Bristol reg.

Brimec was also in Bristol so yours may well have been a demonstrator....

So...No way ex-AA I'm affraid

do the spec part fold over on the bar?? if so make sure they are either locked in properly or fold them over as I had 1 of them came over and smacked me on my neck and back of head once or twice...

I have a heavy duty locking pin to hold it in place. Thankyou for your advice.

I have done that more than once Do it up as AA anyway, it will still look the part

i would thourt all AA vehicles would be registerd at there head office and picked up from there so mutts you are correct i dont think its a AA vehicle still a nice little truck tho

Not alot happening at the moment, trying to work the old girl to raise the cash to do the MOT repairs, then I can start doing the serious stuff!!!!

Only just noticed this, when I was a boy I used to drive a mk2 spec lift B777LNP at a ford garage, Brimec spec lift with air craft 5 wheel and also a set of dolly's to rise the back wheels off the ground to tow sierra/granada 4x4's (saved taking the prop off) but was not a twin cab
I thought the tyre had the pressure on it's side wall ? but it was alot 100 does sound right?

Well, things have started moving along, I have taken the easy option and sent her back to her previous owner to have all the mot work done.
So, fingers crossed, she will be back soon, cruising the streets and earning me some wonga. Once all is good again I will start shopping for some bits and bobs to tidy her up (that means i'm gonna need to come and see you muttley!!)
