I started to paint the van today with combicolour blue, I thinned the paint according to the info on the tin and used a 4 inch roller to apply to the bonnet, it didnt go on too well, the texture looks like drops of rain on the bonnet(best way to describe it), I used a brush around the edges and on the grill and the brush painted parts are smooth and shiny.

I bought a 750ml tin from paintshop.ie in Bagenalstown Carlow. 059 9723808. Only bought 1 tin to check it out, reckon it will take up to 3 tins to finish it.
18.48e a tin
10.50e delivery
6.09e vat
35e in total.

Make sure you're using good quality roller (for gloss paint), Also make sure the thinner is well stirred into the paint, because the roller sponge likes to suck it out (if that makes sense) When you put new roller into the tray with paint, make sure you squeeze out all air bubbles out of the sponge. That's probably most I can tell you, hopefully some professional tells you more soon  Also - key is in preparation, did you wet&dry the bonnet before painting?

Doing a bit of wet sanding today, the weather isn't on my side, sunny one minute, pissing down the next! also we are selling the house and had a viewing this morning which meant I had to drive my 2 tone green and partially blue transit complete with masking tape and filler one one side over to tescos carpark to hide it! doubt the viewers would of appreciated it in the drive lol.

Considering its the first time ive done this, and its been brushed and rolled on out doors in the shite Irish weather, its coming up ok,few spots (the bonnet) need to be redone, Ive cut a few corners on the bodywork, still a few spots that need filler but they can wait til ive more time, have to have the van on the road by Saturday morning.
One thing I know ive not done is spend enough time on prep work.
Thanks for the positive comments guys.

I went into my local hardware shop to get some matt black paint, and what did I see on a big display stand just inside the door COMBI COLOUR PAINT and loads of it! bought another tin of blue for 20e, happy days, saved 15e on getting it online .
The guy said its in hardware shops through out the country, so my advice to you is chec k your local hardware shop!
Last week I thought I could only get it in the Uk until a guy here put me onto a supplier in Carlow, and all along its been available here in Clonmel. :D :D :D
