Not really done much more to Franny recently as been busy. but got some aero wipers off ebay ,fitted in less than 30 seconds...work great!

oh yeah she's now got clear oval side repeaters and clear front indicators now too!

got 5 ltrs of red oxide to re do rust etc plus hoping to fit roof vents, bull bars and repaint her dark purple!!

plus i wanna get my air horns fitted too but need some more air line!

Hi there Rob Cee like what you`re doing,need to do mine but has a plastic waterproof? liner inside,so need to have a look behind that to see if there is any insulation.My concern is that if you get any condensation on the inside of the panels the wool will sweat and water will need to run somewhere and cause rust!Think a baco foil type memrane on panels might stop this but not sure.What does any one else think.My van is ex clear channel owned and i wonder if any one else has investigated what`s behind the plastic lining.

The important thing is to have a vapour barrier between the insulation and the inside of the van. Vapour will go through practically anything that is not seemingly waterproof. When the vapour travels through the external layer (in this case the ply) it will keep going until it reaches its stop sign, in this case the van wall. The insulation will then be damp and we know what happens when damp hits metal.

In buildings, the vapour barrier usually consists of kraft paper and this must be continuous and where there are joints, they should be taped. Anyone who remembers the problems that Barratt homes had in the late 70's/early 80's, will recall that rot set into the ply internal skin because of torn membranes. This is a similar situation, except that it wont be the ply that rots, it will be the metal fabric of the van!
I would have thought that it would be better to use metal foil as an insulant, or polystyrene. Both are vapour proof, or as near as dammit. The difficulty is keeping it all continuous.

I have no wish to cause stress to anyone who is trying to pack up the weed, but I would have serious doubts about using wool insulation without a vapour barrier. As soon as the wool becomes damp, its insulant properties will be seriously impaired and, after a while, condensation and mould will begin to appear in certain less well ventilated areas.

Like the colour, I have always been into blues and greys but since doing mine starting to like the richer darker purples, plums etc, maybe try get a sample see how well it goes on and if it can be polished up, see it goes

checking out bmw techno violet like on e36 m3's. gonna be metallic tho cos the 4004 ral aint same colour in real life as on my bloody monitor!
