QUOTED for the window i would buy the glass and do it yourself, i paid £120 iirc for a fixed side window and fitting kit

where did you manage to get a kit that cheap from
the best i found is £236 for the kit

I wouldnt  especially as you have health issues,, they could become damp and eject spores and such, its a bit dearer but kingspan phenolic board is probably the best ,or that flexible foilwrapped stuff  http://www.foam-insulation.co.uk/insula ... lation.htm

seems the glass is cheap on average £70 what shoots the price up is the fitting kit including the bonding.. vansport started of cheap till you got to the postage bit where they charge you postage per item not per order..
fitting isnt a problem especially as its just cutting a whole in metal and sticking a window to it...
insulating the van now theres a BIG problem.. So many people talking of different variations... all i want to do is stick somthing in the gaps and on the floor that reduces sound and adds a little warmth and wont cause damp .. im not gonna sleep in the van its basically gonna be a second car
one thing i feel i will do after seeing the rust issues is RUST-OLEUM every square inch as it seems fords paint just aint got what it takes to keep my rust at bay

time to get in gear

Postby plonka69 » Fri Apr 22, 2011 11:19 am

time has not been on my side just lately..but with the wife due number 4 child any day now i gotta get sorted... after buying mk7 crew cab seats and finding that these dont fit i went on to buy exminibus seats mk5 with built in belts at only £24 another ebay bargain but again hitting another wall with the old head i decided i WILL MKE THEM FIT.. have had the welfing done and scrubbed the florring clean ready for insulating the cheap way.. how you may ask..simples.. i got my hands on some carpet tiles cut them into strips and but between the gaps on the floor then relay the wooden flooring the the remainder carpet tiles on the wooden flooring this shoild in THEORY both insulate and sound proof the flooring with no chancing of condensation... pictures to come real soon...

todays work as pics show insulating of floor refitting of original boeards..took out for a drive and road noise as reduced drematicly so once top layer of carpet tiles goes down should reduce sound even more.. took a picture close up so you can see the carpet tile layers..these are top layer heavy duty carpet then a thin black tile then sponge then hessian backed..and sized at 18inchs square and at a cost of 50p a tile is a cheap and heavy duty way.. purchased from a carboot in pleasley mansfield and there where about 20 different colors all used but ideal for the back of a van

yeah checked vansport out and they start of at a good price until they bang the shipping costs on...for buying 2 clear glass windows with fitting kits delivered is more costly than getting them supplied and fitted locally
