... OK, i can try that today ..... Currently i am just using the two diag. opposed lifting eyes on the lump, so the angle is 'fixed'.... :)

i will let you know how i get on.... :-)

thanks for the pointers

... :(

I have just spent the afternoon trying to shoehorn the 24v lump into the engine bay.... Rather than use the factory pickup points on the 24v, i have connected two chains down to the 'eyes' on the engine mounts, this seems to angle the engine backwards, at about 30 degrees...? Is this enough 'angle'?

I have started to reshape the trans. tunnel next to the clutch pedal, but i am unsure how much to reshape it, do i need to hit it upwards, or outwards, or both? :-)

anyone got a pic of the restyling required...?

cheers

i finally got the motor in the engine bay today! :-) i had to take off the inlet pipework to do it though.. :-(

Still, the motor now sits nicely on the mounts, so i will have a go at putting the inlet pipes back on with the motor in situ.... ?

if any one is interested, there are some more photos @

I'm sure things will start to look easier now :D Not cos they are, but simply cos you have the engine sat there on its mounts.

Its good to see some pics of this conversion actually happening, many talking...not many doing

Good luck with the rest of it :D

Guy and Luke, the engine mounts are Ford 2.9 Amby mounts...... I could have used the ally Scorp mounts that came with the 24v Cossie, but they don't support the gearbox, so i thought i would go for strength rather than weight saving... :-)

more to follow tommorow i hope...... cheers

24v engine mounts

Postby dipstick » Tue Nov 07, 2006 11:16 am

Guy, does that mean then that the adapter plate will be self-supporting?

It certainly seems easier to use the ally mounts, if they give enough support...? :-)

good luck.... Cheers

This afternoon, i pulled the motor back out, and examined how to get the inlet pipe work back on.... It seems that i will be able to drop it into place with the engine in the engine bay...?

I might be lucky and be able to put the rhs pipework back on before i put the engine back in the Transit..... It seems to be only the 'clutch' side pipes that foul the bulkhead and trans. tunnel..?

While i was cleaning it up, i took off the fuel rails and coolant pipes and all the other crap that Ford put into the Vee..... it was full of crud, no wonder the looms are known to fail, they run right in the sh1t and just cook i guess?

I am going to run the loom out of harms way, and try to route as many of the 'services' out of the Vee as possible....?

I have yet more photos today.....if you want to have a butchers .....

http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/4367112

Pulling the coolant pipe work was a nightmare, you can see the problems that Cosworth must have had designing the 4v heads to sit on the block....

cheers :-)
