Cannot weld nut on top as wont be able to get socket on it, so decided to try welding a bolt on top, tried lots of times & every time the bolt just broke.
What am I doing wrong?

Doesn't look like you have any penetration. You need to clean the torx up to shiny and use a high current setting on the welder. It's thick material you're welding there.

Also worth shaping the end of the bolt so it sits in contact on both sides.

Got that last bolt out, managed to get me grinder in to take the top off & free the seat, then used mole grips to remove the stud.
Welding, grinding, vactan & finally red oxide.
Will get another coat of red oxide later this week to ensure no bits are missed like I did for the rear.

What shall I do about my disgusting looking mat?

I can jet wash it & leave it in the garden to dry, it will look cleaner but still look crap.

Does anyone sell these new? or anyone got a 2nd hand 1 in very good condition for sale?

get an offcut of carpet efrom the local cheapo carpet place, use high-temp contact adhesive to glue it on, turn it over then cut off all the excess that is'nt transit shaped :D

jetwash it first & dry it so the glue will go off properly, remember with contact adhesive, spray it on both surfaces, leave it untill its touch dry, then lay the carpet over the cab matt, smoothing out wrinkles as you go, bring it indoors to dry overnight, then cut off excess, worked a treat for me!

Hi Ron,
What is the soundproofing you used there?

Does it work?
