ive been watching a couple of boxes but they all to far away,so the search continues
and i spent my dinner hour removing most of the bits i have collected from the back of the van so i can spend some evenings over the next few weeks doing some welding :D

If you are planning to run an auto, try to find a ZF4HP22 from a Daf/LDV 400 V8 van. It is a 4 speed overdrive box (0.73:1 top) so you can run a normal ratio diff and still get relaxed cruising in top. Good strong box, cable speedo, no electronics either, just might take some looking to find one. Don't buy one from a Landrover /Rangerover, you cannot convert it to 2wd. I had a V8 Daf 400 with one of these boxes, it was a very nice piece, better than the 5 speed manual I have now.

i like where this is going.
great work on the rust so far.
Dad had a Leland V8 in his Mk1 transit years ago(Australian 4.4 P76 V8 motor similar to the rover)

these projects like yours have almost convinced me to buy a welder and fix the rust myself in mine.
