Only thing I may suggest is that when testing each wire for beep tone. Shake the bunch of wires going from body to engine to make sure it's not partly broken and made worse with movement?
Also if when testing (depending on your meter) it may give you a reading or change to check for resistance(like that symbol but without bottom line). They should all read roughly same (next to nothing) but if for example maybe the one sending signal to pcm is higher than rest it may cause pcm to think unit is in a position different to where it should be and so the readings pcm is getting are out of it's range so it says it doesn't know where it is?
But if you can get an actuator that would help eliminate any doubt there hopefully before going back into the wiring.
Your doing yourself proud with what your dealing with. Keep at it mate. I'm glad I never gave up on mine when it was causing trouble it's been worth it for us.

And maybe I have no problems for the next 2 years and then it was all worth it..
