Yes, i think if you put a chrome bumper infront of that spoiler it would look great, something like this;

unfortunatly im not going for chrome bumpers - im going for old english white ones

a little more work today - mainly with the tailgate again

But i need your honest oppinion, im having mixed feeling as weather to keep the van as original as possible or going down the slight custom van route - what i mean by that is modifications that can be reverted back to original if needed- like the steering wheel,cortina mk2 drivers seat And mainly the front air dam - Whats your opinion on the front air dam - good look - bad look i rather like it and would get it painted the same colour of the van (most likely midnight blue)



p.s this is an original 70s custom part - the guy i bought it off said he bought it for his transit in the 70s

thats a rare find the van shop used to supply these many years ago how much did it cost you ,would look better under a chrome bumper or no bumper at all (i would mould a piece of tube along the bottom of the underside of the spoiler these tend to crack along the lower edge )
these mk1s always tend to look good with the custom route go for it

hi pat - according to the man i bought it off he bought it in the late 70s for his van which was a 3 litre landliner but never fitted it and as for cost....not much compaired to what its worth (ive tried to find the cost of buying one of these..but cant find one so i recon its worth a bit )
i mean where can you find an original 70s custom skirt these days, especially for a transit

did a bit more today mainly taking all the mk1 wheels off the van and replacing them with teparory wheels whilst the mk1 wheels go for blasting/painting, also started taking some of the inteior out ready for the convertion


bumper off - front valence in very good condition


that floor needs a bloody good clean

Also as mentioned before somtimes the van pops out of reverse gear
i had a look at the gear box through the floor and found a piston type thing that i beleave engages reverse gear when the gear stick pushes against it

im wondering if the gear stick has enough strength to keep the piston in - if not thats why it would pop out

when reversing i have to hold the gear stick down with one hand and steer with the other -
so this is what multi tasking is like

push it in by hand and see if the reversing light comes on with the stick in 1st

i seem to rememebr mine has something similar as the reverse light is an add on spotlight
